1. 40 pounds less weight
2. Have to use special rear shocks not locally available
3. 40 pounds less weight
4. Never lose their spring
5. 40 pounds less weight
6. Must keep them away from the exhaust heat
I have the 360 pound rear spring on my '79 and love it. There are times when it...
Yes, an oil cooler will greatly help lower the engine temp. Install as large a cooler as you expect you might build your engine up to, horsepower wise. Mount it in front of the radiator, off to the side a bit is fine. If you can locate a kit that includes a thermo switch so the oil doesn't go...
I just went from 15 inch tires to 17 inch on my '79. There is a BIG differance in the responce to steering inputs. Both tires are the same tread width but the 17's do feel like they are giving me faster cornering speeds.
They also ride MUCH rougher than the 15 inch wheels due to the lower...
I'd be real interested to hear about it if you can get a Gear Vendors O/D unit to fit in the driveshaft tunnel of a C3.
I think that a lot of your traction problem comes from your 4:11 rear gears being mated to the lower gearing in the T700. Try swaping in a set of 3:36 to 3:08 gears for a...
It'll be tough to give you any suggestions for a camshaft without knowing your engine specs and rear gearing. The type of driving that you intend to do is also important.
Just looking at the RPM's that you've posted it looks like you intend on having a low revving engine. The Comp XE262 is a...
Take a look at the information on this site and download the compression ratio calculator. http://members.uia.net/pkelley2/DynamicCR.html
When you have run your engine through the program you are going to find that you want a cam of about 274 degrees of intake duration at a minimum, more likely...
I keep all of my wiring in the factory style plastic looms to protect them somewhat from heat. Your local auto parts store has the stuff in packaged rolls.
As JohnZ said, only steel fuel lines from the pump to the carb.
Excessive under hood heat is the problem. The wiring takes a beating and shorts out. Rubber fuel lines from the fuel pump to the carb are another sure fire.
The '79 Q-jet is rated at 795 CFM. If you can find someone that can tune it and you are willing to use a vacuum secondary you should not have any problems feeding any small block engine.
You do know that if you are replacing the stock wires with stock routed wires that you have to lift the engine don't you? The wires for the forward cylinders run through the motor mounts.
As I recall, when they we introduced the magizine guys said it was to get better flame travel. I don't know of any conclusive studies done to prove the value of angle plug heads. I doubt that you or I could feel a seat of the pants differance. Maybe a NASCAR team or national level small block...
You've got mail. A rather large jpeg file.
I see that you are in Wichita too. Hope to see you at a few of the events this year.
Sorry, didn't know that I couldn't just get your e-mail address from the profiles and add an attachment.
Check your temp gage against a known good unit.
Do you have heavy gage wire going to the fans? 10 gage minimum.
Verify that your electric fans are coming on.
Fan shroud must be in place and no more than 1" to the tips of the fan blades.
Lower radiator hose firm, not collapsing?
Exhaust system...
I had thought about doing the same thing when I got an L-88 hood. I planned on getting a sheet of aluminum from the local surplus yard and cutting it out to make a base around the air cleaner base. Thick metal. Maybe .100.
Use rubber edging around the metal to keep from cutting yourself when...
