Stumble on load, only when warm/hot

All are a year/year and a half old. One of wires got up against the exhaust for a little bit (very short time), but didn't burn. (very small discoloration spot) I since have kept it from touching anything, and have added insulation to the spot it touched just in case. I figured if it were...

Stumble on load, only when warm/hot

Did you have any other symptoms? I hate to dig in and replace an expensive item and have it not be the cause.

Stumble on load, only when warm/hot

It has been a while since I ran an injector cleaner. No hard codes (SES light off), and I never learned if you can jumper the diagnostic port to get the computer to flash them without a code reader.

Stumble on load, only when warm/hot

Ok, the basics- 92, 6spd, 125K miles, new opti at about 60K thanks to water pump, replaces wires and coil about a year ago, computer replaced 3 years ago, coated SLP shorty headers. Here is the deal, cold to normal operating temps- no problems. If I am in stop and go traffic/stop and restart...

best aftermarket shifter for a 1990 six speed

I have the B&M, and love it. I drive a lot on the street, as well as some autocross. A friend has a Hurst, and likes mine better. Then again he autocrosses as well. One thing to consider is installation. The B&M takes more work to put in. Oh, and the cup holder is usable, even with...

I need a pair of 3" inlet Mufflers....

Mufflers? Who needs mufflers? I run 3" and straight pipes (after the cats of course). Sounds really good, and think of the weight you save! :D

    Brake noise

Ok, update time... I put on the new slotted rotors I had sitting in the garage. The change seems to have gotten rid of almost all the noise. My old rotors had faint heat/stress cracks, so that could have been contributing to the problem. Just thought I would post good news.

    Brake kits

Let me see if I can answer this without openning a can of worms..... In theory, there is no difference. (Same mounts, pistons, etc.) Now, I have read that the GS/CE versions are stronger and transfer heat better due to the exterior design differences. The real reason I mentioned it is that...

    Coolant additives.

Water wetting ability refers to the ability of the liquid to transfer heat. Sounds like double talk, I know, but that was the simple explination from and engineer. Honestly, I just had a friend put WW in his 87. It seemed to get him back down to a better operating range, and when we heat...

    Brake noise

Thanks for the tips. I went to their web site and pulled up the FAQs. I will try rebedding them per their instructions. I also have a new set of rotors to try with them. If that doesn't work, I will just have to learn to live with it during the season too. Thanks-

    Brake kits

First off, what type of autocross will you be running? SCCA, NCCC, other? NCCC has specific rules on what you are allowed to change and stay in your category. You can run J55 calipers, but not the Grand Sport/Collectors Edition calipers in stock class for a '92. You can run Stainless lines...

    Coolant additives.

I've used Water Wetter. It works well. Some friends use 40 below and have had good results with it.

    Brake noise

I just switched to Hawk HP+ pads on the front, and I am going nutz!!! They sound like I am running metal to metal. (its embarrasing) I have pulled the pads off, cleaned everything, used hi-temp anti-skweel juice on the backs of the pads, and after two stops, they screem. Is this normal...

    Tire Pressure

I like a little stagger, so I run 2 psi less in the rear. (32 front/ 30 rear) for auto cross, I run 40 in the front, 38 in the rear.

    Headlight replacement

55 watts is what a standard bulb draws. Try Raybrig headlights. I switched to these, and it makes stock ones look like you are driving with your lights off. They are also very lite, and plastic, so no chips or cracks. I do like the Silverstars though. I use them in my truck, but I didn't...

    Falken Tires

I have run General, Goodyear, Falken, Sumitomo, and Dunlop on my vette. The Falkens were the ZE502's. I loved them for daily driving. They have excellent grip, and good tread life (300+). The Dunlps (sp5000) cost more, have similar ratings, and suck eggs. The Falkens even when they were...

    Brake Lights Blowing Fuse

For starters, check the bulbs and sockets. There might be moisture that is causing the short. The use of electrical grease will cut down on that if it is the problem.

    Slotted Rotor Feedback?

I agree that there should not be any feel from the slots. They should run true. Good to know about the pads. I run SBC / Baer (same pad) blue pads. They are a more agressive pad. They start to squeek some after daily driving. A hard stop or two, and they don't make a sound. I put them on...

    Brakes and NCCC rules

Ok, I am looking for clarification. I have heard that slotted rotors are allowed under NCCC this year. I have not seen it in print though (old rule book). Does anyone know for sure, and if so in which class(es) they are legal? I have drilled rotors (Stillen I believe), and that put my...

    Shocks for my 1992

Thanks Graham I have poly bushings for my sway bar, but i have not installed them yet. Do you think Bilstein will rebuild them under warranty? The are only about two years old. If I don't get another vette, I might end up putting in FX3 (rebuilt to stiffer settings) and a stiffer spring...
