Hey BullWinkle,
Let me know how those Flowmasters sound. I was looking at a set for my 89 convertible. Hope they work out good for you!
Thanks,

In response to a lower engine thermosat setting:
I also have installed the Hypertech Stage II engine management chip with a 160 degree thermostat. It works great.
The car passes emissions, gets good mileage (26 mpg +-), and has excellent power. The chip changed the OBC fan cut-in temoperature...
Good luck in your search. I bought my 89C for about $15K with 45,000 miles last year in March. I runs great!
The L98 in mine pulls strong with the automatic (only trans avail in the conv). Check the axle ratio in the car you find. These vettes could be ordered with several rear end options...
Corvette Fever magazine ran an article on changing the rear axle ratio in a C5 last year. I don't remeber the month, sorry. Maybe there web site can lend some information.

Radar :)
I saw a neat web site the other day that illustrates how to get the bose speakers out of the front doors.
Try this link: http://carstereohelp.com/strcorvette.htm
Hope it helps!

Did you check for a plugged catalytic convertor? The shop manual has a proceedure to check backpressure between the engine exhaust manifold and the cat.
I would also check to see if the timing chain has skipped a tooth. I think the engine has a nylon timing gear that has a way of failing...
I have a question on how best to end a five month winter storage period for a 1989 C4 with 45,000 miles and the automatic.
I put the car up for storage in Pctober 2001 with a full tank of gas, Stabil, fresh natifreeze and a fresh oil change. The car has not been run since 10/1501.
I have a...
Take a look through the 2001 issues of Corvette Fever magazine. In one of the editions (not sure which month but I think it was before June +-), they ran a major piece on installing a 700R4 in a C3. There was some major work needed to the crossmember. They show this in detail. The drive shaft...
I would be wondering why this started to change just now. If your Vette ran cooler before when cruising and now it started to run much hotter, I would pull the engine thermostat and check/replace it. With the temp outside at 42, I would think the electric fan would not even be needed when you...
That sure sounds like good advise to me. The only reson I put synthetic in was because the local Chevrolet dealer recommended it. I think he may of forgotten that the older vettes were not designed for this product.
I think I will drain that stuff out in the spring and refill with good old...
Does your Vette have a lot of miles on it? I had a freind awhile back with a high mileage v8. The timing chain slipped atooth or two and he had a symptom like yours. I would check the distributor timing and see if #1 TDC on the distributor matches with the piston coming up on the compression...
