ring and pinion 3.9

Corvette Fever magazine ran an article on changing the rear axle ratio in a C5 last year. I don't remeber the month, sorry. Maybe there web site can lend some information.

Regards,
Radar :)

I think 3.90 is to steep , you would roast the tires ,you could have slower 0-60 and E.T.'s .In order to make the engine work with 3.90 gears you might have to change the cam to work in the proper R.P.M range . I would go for 3.42 and buy the whole carrier unit complete , that way you can switch back at anytime to the stock unit . If you buy the ring and pinion and have the gears installed in your carrier you are stuck . I think the average guy with tools can change the carrier unit .
Thanks,
Joe

HI there,
I will not install them.
The thickness of the ring, will not allow the correct strength under high stress conditions.
That is what is told to me by Getrag, and they do not sugges this course of action.
