    1981 Corvettes are slow.

Well actual 1980 had a computer controlled carb. 81 added more computer controls. and dist. It actually worked pretty good; My 1st vette was an 80 with the 180hp 305ci. ait was a great driver. Preformed well and 20 MPG on the hiway. You could remove the engine from the computer and they still...

    1981 Corvettes are slow.

Not sure what you are trying to say. 190hp is not as bad as most of the mid 70's vettes. They ran 180 to 185 in the L-48s, so are all mid 70's - 82 C3 L-48s slow? My L-48 4 speed can smoke the tires with little trouble. Yes, I have done a few changes, like intake, carb and 69' style side pipes...

    Question: Edelbrock Throttle Cable

Most Edelbrocks are mechanical. If vacuum there will be a vacuum pod with a rod attached to the secondary shaft. Another way to check if you are getting full pull on the carb is to have someone push the gas pedal to the floor then see if you can push the carb further open. Gary SAVE the WAVE

    Question: Edelbrock Throttle Cable

That depends on if you have vacuum secondary or mechical. If it is mech. just have someone push the pedal to the floor and see if the backs open. If vacuum thats a little harder. Chech to see if you have vacuum to the diapham; also that the diapham is good. No holes etc. Note with the vacuum...

    Question: Edelbrock Throttle Cable

Here are just a few of brackets that will work for the SBC, 8030 - 8032 - 8036. You should contact either Edelbrock or go to your local parts store to be sure you get one that fits your exact needs. Gary

    Question: Edelbrock Throttle Cable

Edelbrock makes several different brackets that could work for you; Adjustable ones and fixed ones of different lenghts. Just be sure to get one with the right cable mount, where the cable mounts to the bracket.

    Question: Edelbrock Throttle Cable

Like I mentioned above you have to change the mounting point. The bracket that you have mounted to the carb needs the be changed to one that moves the cable mount to the rear. Eldebrock makes several different brackets that will work. Gary

    Mainifold AIR Tubes

It's a very simple matter. Just cut the tubes off with a hacksaw on the outside; then use a moto-tool or something like that to grind off the tubes on the inside. Once you have the tube clean off then have someone weld the holes up. After they are welded up grind the weld smooth; then repaint or...

    Question: Edelbrock Throttle Cable

The problem is not the cable. It's the mounting. the distance from the back of the carb to the cable hookup is shorter than the stock carb. Elderbrock makes several brackets that move the cable mount at the back of the carb to the rear. That gives more cable travel. Gary SAVE the WAVE

    Upgrading cooling system

Replacement shroud can be found here or other places like Ebay for alot less than $400. Changing to elec. fans is your choices and they do flow more air if you get a good system; spending the money to change over is up to you. Gary

    why dont C6 guys wave..?

SAVE the WAVE :w should be in the owner manual. I'm on my 4th C3 and for the most part C5 & C6 owners don't wave. Maybe it is just the fact that they don't know about the wave;;shrug but I think that some of it is they have a Corvette just to say they own one. Rather than for the fun of owning...

Question: Engine rebuilding Sleeve vs. Boreing

:thumb Never sleeve the sbc unless there is no other way the fix the motor. Even at that I'd find another block before installing sleeves. That's just my .02 worth.

    Upgrading cooling system

If you go with elec. fans get a duel system that flows no less than 2700 cfm. 3000 cfm if you live in the south or do alot of city driving. The stock radiator, if in good condition, should work just fine. Gary

    Question: Radiator Help

Thanks to all for your help. Found the only Radiators shop in the area and they fixed it up just fine and back to me in 1 day. They also can recore/rebiuld the whole thing with the new high flow 3/4 in tubes for around $500. I'll wait on that for another time. It helps I guess when the manager...

    Question: Radiator Help

I Guys; got the radiator out today. it looks clean inside w/ no nasty build up. The drivers side tank looks like it came loose from the core flange/ there about a 3 in line that I can slide my finger nail along. I'm headed to the radiator shop, nearest is 30 mile away, to have it checked out...

    Question: Radiator Help

Well as things go, when you think all is right with your C3 it :puke. Went to a local hot rod meet Saturday evening. Was looking at a nice 63 roadster when I looked back at my vette and there it was; This long green trail of water coming out from under the front of the vette. After a good...
