I don't want to say anything bad about Corvettes, but I really don't care that much for the C4's. I'd stay with a C3 myself; but I've owned 4 C3 and 3 of them were 1978's. They can be found and reasonable prices all the time. You just have to watch for the rust prombles.
As to your other...
The first thing to do is truely find out just how bad it is. Remove the mounting bolt and rubber ; vacuum out the lose rust. Then use a wire brush on a drill and clean it up. That the only way to be sure bad it is and how far it goes.

The seat will go back far enough, but just enough. Check to make sure there isn,t something blocking the seat: like the carpet or the seat back. I have to fold my seats-backs forward to get the track back enough.

I have them on my 78. I picked up about 200 RPMs on the top end and it sounds like a Corvette now!
The bad side is I can't come in late without the boss knowing about.

That's a common happening. I have a spare cover, but I don't remember if it is for the 2 1/2 or 2 1/4 spring. Let me know if you need a cover. I'll make you a deal; trying to clean out some of the spare parts to make room for more.

I have the complete defroster switch & knob from my 80 that was totalled. I saved in just becuase I may have a need for it someday. It's here someplace if you are interested.
