    sidepipe questions

Those are Hookers. You will need to remove the rocker panels for install and notch them. You really only need to mount the rear tab. You should consider STS Baffles or wide open. The hooker mufflers SUCK. Here's a Pic of my 74 BB

Why does my Vette look like a 4X4?

Your front end is to high. Check to see if the springs are seated correctly (no chucks between the top A arm and the spring). If everything seems OK, then the springs you have in front are not right for your current set up. The weight of your missing AC compressor could have a lot to do...

    Electrical Nightmare

I use a quick disconnect on the negative terminal... any time I shut off the car, I unscrew the disconnect so there is no power drain... it also is a theft deterant. The battery didn't drain on it's own... something in it went Kaput! It was 4 years old and a cheapo battery anyway.

They aren't perfect.... still getting a little squeal, but they aren't spongy anymore!! Too bad it's 98 and humid out... I'd take her to work!

    Electrical Nightmare

No charge... she wouldn't even hold 1 amp! Pretty big for a paperweight. Ran out and picked up an Optima 75/25. She fired right up! :W :W Look out Northern Illinois!!!

    Electrical Nightmare

I'm gonna pull the battery tonight, clean off the terminals and give it a good charge. If she won't take it.... problem solved! If she does take it... :bash

    Electrical Nightmare

Yeah so wouldn't it figure that the 1st time I take the vette out for a real cruise all year... I end up getting trailered home on a flat bed? Drove about 30 miles to a cruise night... headed on back... everything was running fine. Stopped off for some ice-cream... everything fine. Stopped...

    My own strange brake problem....

Yeah so it seems like it's just air in the lines or in a caliper. It's just plain spongy.

    My own strange brake problem....

Humpphh :cry I did replace the pads... twice (thinking it was the pads). I'll fire her up when I get home tonight for the master test you mention above. I can tell you it's spongy at the bottom with weight on the pedal. I can feel the pedal hit the stop.

    My own strange brake problem....

So last summer I replaced with new the following: Booster Master Lines to Proportioning valve Lines from valve to Left & Right Front Calipers Both Front calipers Front rotors. They haven't been the same since, and I think it's either a bad master or the proportioning valve. I just had my...

    Finally... It Lives!

Oil pump was just replaced 4000 miles ago... so no need to replace. The spiral baffles are tunable... the center cap has concentric tuning rings so you can open/close the center tube as much as you desire. I will leave mine open, and just let the cork screws muffle the sound with as little...

    Finally... It Lives!

So yeah, um... in March or April (with car still in moth balls from the winter) I started a project to replace my oil pan. Two mis-shapen pans later... this weekend I re-tapped the oil drain plug nut to 9/16 X 12 (yes, that is a big hole :boogie), bolted her back on, filled her with oil, and...

    Lost Keys

A co-worker's relative has a '76, and lost his keys. I've never encountered this problem before, and wanted to find out what options this guy has (besides finding the keys :boogie)? ;help Thanks, Dave

    Oil Drain Bolt size?

Thanks! Pan is already off the car... just going to tap it out to the next size... nut is on good, so I'm not going to take it off... espcially since I don't have a welder and could never get it back on! :ohnoes

    Oil Drain Bolt size?

Anyone know the size bolt used in a Big Block oil pan? I need to tap out my old pan as Corvette Central can't seem to send me a pan that will fit on my car. Thanks! Dave

Can't get oil pan back on

Round 2 = same result... 2nd new pan is also defective. I think I'll just retap the ole girl and put the original back on. It goes right up there! I'll be lucky if I get this thing on the road by July!
