Power Steering Fluid recommendation
Purchased a new Power Steering Cylinder and will be installing this weekend. Any power steering fluid recommendations such as brand, type, quantity, etc.?
While my 79 was idling in my garage I was turning the steering wheel to the full turn position and the cotter pin and nut from shaft to the frame bracket popped/snapped off. Curious why something like this would happen. I'm assuming it makes no sense to continue to use this power steering...
1979 Corvette with new rotors and pads. Proper break in performed. All brake lines are good. Master cylinder and caliper is relatively new. Pulled the caliper and no signs of leakage or failure. Bled the caliper and still continue to have this issue. When slamming on the breaks, both front...
If I remember correctly, it should be just the two top brackets holding the rad in place. The rad sits on two rubber bushings on each end at the bottom. Shroud should move forward and the rad should be removed straight up and out if the hoses are disconnected. Mine wasn't easy either so just be...
I own a L-48 with AC. In making some changes and cleaning up the engine bay, I removed my AC Compressor, Condenser, and AC belt. When I removed the AC belt I started to encounter this squealing noise when increasing RPM's from idle. My two remaining belts are tight although my alternator is as...
Just want to keep you all informed. Made some real progress today. Did a compression check on all cylinders. They all were between 201 and 205. 12* BTDC base timing and 36* BTDC at WOT at 2500 RPM. WOT vacuum is almost at 0 and we are at 11.1 - 11.5 at WOT Air Fuel Ratio so we are running rich...
The converter choice is niether here nor there. It was recommended by the manufacturer and it was installed correctly. I definitely have more torque, both initial and midrange so there has been an improvement. Just not the radical torque we were expecting. Prior to the converter upgrade, I have...
PI recommended this stall so it is not a matter of it being to high or the wrong one. They were given all the details prior to making a recommendation. I will be checking my rearend ratio. That may be the problem.
It has been a while since I have posted and updated everyone here on my progress with my '79. Over the past wo weeks we removed the original Torque Converter and replaced it with a Precision Industries 2800 Stall Vigilante Torque Converter with new aluminum pan, gaskets and filter. We also...
I will be replacing my Torque Convertor, Pan, Gaskets, and Filter. What is the stock type fluid used for a '79 TH350 Automatic? I'd like some idea's on a NON-synthetic performance ATF. I don't think there is a need for synthetic. I'm cruising, not racing. ;)
OK, just a couple of questions. Looks like you can purchase re-manufactured tailshaft housing extensions for a TH350 that has the new bushing and seal already installed. Is there only one type of bushing to install as well as a seal? I would also need a new gasket that goes in between the...
Thanks Hib. Well, no groove in the output yoke. Transmission was rebuilt approximately 7 years ago. I see that there are several different looking shaft seals depending on what vendor site you go to. That's why I would like someone to verify the link I provided as a correct part for a '79 Auto...
