Yeah, I thought so too. It was sitting on a Mercedes dealers lot for 3 months. I called and made a rediculous offer. They called back at 4:30 pm and said "be her by 7pm and you can have it." Naturally I jumped. THey paid $30,000 for it on trade-in.
I guess when you sell mercedes, you can take a...
I bought my 1994 #54, Red Metallic/Black Interior, like new, 16,500 miles in August of 2004 for $26,500 from a dealer in San Jose CA. ZR-1's just are not getting the prices they deserve.
The last 4 numbers of the VIN tell you where your car occured in the production run. For example, my 1994 ZR-1 ends in "0054" meaning it was the 54th produced that year.
Interesting thread..
Hib, why the '82 collectors edition? Seems out of place with the rest.
For me, the "investment factor" is just part of the thrill and mystique. I enjoy my '94 for all of the reasons mentioned by others, but I really think it'll be worth something on 20 years, and that's...
I agree with Hib that the ZR-1s will continue to decline for a number of years, though I'd estimate that they'd bottom out about 5-6 years from now, right around the 20 year mark. I've been following prices for about 10 years now, and the ZR-1 prices suffered greatly about the time the C6 was...
Yes it does. Here's a quote from the ZF doctors web page about GM ZF-6 transmission fluid:
http://www.zfdoc.com/techinfo.htm
"TRANSMISSION OIL (status) *-* Vascular flow of oil through the porous Phosphorus-bronze (Pb)*material of each synchronizer is essential for effective British Thermal...
Came across this ad on craigslist, thought it sounded like it had possibilities for the interested party

I'm about 20 miles away and can view it if needed.
Why not sell the ZR-1, buy a similar LT-1 corvette and take the cash and put it toward the new motor? Seems like a waste to start heavily modifying the Z when you'd probably be decreasing its value in the long run.
Turbo
While what you say is possible, I can't recall ever seeing a C4 out here with a front plate. Could be a coincidence (or a conspiracy). Seems odd that they would have a provision for cars with only one plate in the DMV code if all cars were issued with 2 plates "back to at least the...
Oh, I almost forgot the rant...
It amazes me on how a state that prides itself on being so "liberal" has the most oppressive state government I've ever been affilited with. I'm surprised we can even drive cars around here.
Not all cars in california need front plates. It depends on the make and year. The 1994 ZR-1 that I just purchased froma dealer had no front plate. I believe it never had one. The following is from the California Motor Vehicle Code, section 5200:
"5200. (a) When two license plates are issued...
Your assumptions about price mught not be accurate. I recently (August '04) purchased my 1994 ZR-1 for $28,500 out the door ($26,200 before tax, tags, etc.). It has 16 kmiles on it and is in mint condition.
It was sitting on a Mercedes Benz dealer lot for a bout 3 months and they just wanted to...
Hi all,
I just purchased a cags defeat kit for a 1994 ZR-1 with the ZF-6 transmission (of course). My question is that I thought these kits included a 2.2 kilo-ohm resistor in the connector to keep from getting a check engine light.
The kit I purchased only has two caps to protect from dirt...
