    Help! TH 350 in a 1957

I just went through this with my 56. The biggest problem will depend on whether or not you have a 57 engine in the car. The 57 engine block has no provisions for bolting up a starter (it is on the bell housing). The TH 350 has no way to mount a starter. I ended up using the starter adapter...

Speaking of the CF and their 'censorship', what's new with #29 anyway?

There is a lot of things in this hobby that are legally questionable. Changing engines, changing frames, rebodying cars are all accepted practices, but many states require title adjustments when these things happen. How many of us actually do the title work that is required under many state...

Speaking of the CF and their 'censorship', what's new with #29 anyway?

I also did a search of that VIN through National Motor Vehicle Title Information System. Got the same info. The Indiana title is history (literally) and the Florida title is current. My "suspicion" is that the Indiana title was voluntarily surrendered, which is a minor administrative issue...

Speaking of the CF and their 'censorship', what's new with #29 anyway?

Tyler; Do you know for sure that the Indiana title was revoked, or was it possibly voluntarily surrendered? Revocation of a auto title is a big deal, with some legal effort attached. However, an "owner" voluntarily surrendering a title is a minor administrative issue. Happens all the time...

Speaking of the CF and their 'censorship', what's new with #29 anyway?

It would depend on when each state started reporting to the NMVTIS. This is a recent undertaking, funded primarily by the Department of Justice, and I think it really started being used in the 2007 / 2008 time. One of the big reasons for this effort was the flood (literally) of Katrina...

How About A Happy 53 Thread???

Are you still in touch with the buddy? Might be worth trying to track down that engine and trans. I love the idea of a blown buick in a 53 Corvette. Too cool. :D

    53 Corvette #29 (x2?)

Also looking forward to your article Rob. I believe that the requirement that all states report to NMVTIS will help prevent multiple VIN registrations in the future. However, I suspect that initially there will be some issues to be resolved. I have been told that there is a 1957 Corvette...

    53 Corvette #29 (x2?)

I think the threads are being closed because some posters can't resist throwing an accusation at the guy in Indiana. I don't know the whole story, and I suspect most people don't as well. My feeling is that the guy in Indiana did something wrong, and got caught. The Corvette community is now...

    53 Corvette #29 (x2?)

If I read the 1953 registry correctly, a Roger Roberts of Indianapolis, IN also owns #98. Is this the same guy?

    Looking for info on 56

Thanks, Ron, I am acquainted with both of them. I live in Monrovia, not far from your old stomping ground. I got #2117 from a guy just south of St. Louis a couple of years ago. Flew into St. Louis, drove a rental down to look at the car, made the deal and flew home the same day. Came back...

    Looking for info on 56

Different car, and it was in The Corvette Restorer magazine. That car is 2117, and is a fairly complete and original car. I am fixing it up as a 56 Corvette rat rod for the time being.

    Looking for info on 56

All I know for sure about the car is that is was originally red. I don't have enough of the car to determine if it was a manual or automatic car. I have some fiberglass pieces and the VIN tag.
