Question: front brake problem. caliper jumps over pins.

Update. I think I discovered the problem. After much deliberation I decided the two half moon shapes, on the caliper mounting bracket, and on the pads that form the hole that the pin goes thru leave a large gap at the top. I used my mapp torch to heat up the end of the pad and took the bfh to it...

Question: front brake problem. caliper jumps over pins.

Like the title says, the drivers front caliper jumps over the retaining pin. The pads are installed correctly, and the spring clips are installed on the bottom of the pad. I've replaced pads and pins (multiple times). I can see no physical damage to the caliper mount and the rotor runout is...

No heat problem. need help solving.

Update: With the bcm removed, control on auto, temp to 85 or 90 Door will stay shut to the heat side. Drop temp to 84, doorcloses to a/c side. Temp back to 90, door pulsates 1/4". Give door a push and it goes to heat side and pulsates. Twice it went to heat side by itself then reverted to...

John, I'm positive there is no valve. just a tee. Will they have one at my flaps or is that a dealer item? I agree. Being a check valve i'm sure it serves a specific purpose.

Another piece of the puzzle. With bcm removed I could see the door closed to the passenger side. Started the engine, turned control to auto, temp to 90, fan to 10. I coulod see the blend door trying to move. It would open about a quarter inch then try to close, and went back and forth. Used a...

Resevoir holds 15lbs with no leak down. I'm gonna check the hose from the resevoir to the tee at the cruise.

Ok, finally found where the check valve is susposed to be, but there is only a tee. One nipple goes to the manifold, and the other two go into a wiring harness. One of those lines pumps about 15lbs in 3 pumps and leaks down. The other will only build 3lbs with 15 pumps of the mightyvac and...

No heat problem. need help solving.

Hmm, Before this all started the supplied air would go from hot to cold and back to hot again in just a few seconds, no matter where the temp was set. I did try to pull a vacuum with my mighty vac from the ports on the cruise control with no vac at either nipple. One had vaccum with the engine...

Thanks BD. A little more useful info. On another note, The first check on one of the flow charts was whether the cruise control worked or not. How is the cruise connected to the climate control? do they share a vacuum source? I ask cause cruise doesn't work either.

    obdII scanners again?

I purchased a connector and program for my laptop from Scantool.net called OBDlink SX. Does everything I wanted and more. Under 50 bucks. It pulled some old codes, told me what they were in plain english and cleared them for me.

I looked at the valve, hoses, elbows, & tees. Nothing visible wrong. I found a link, I think at one of hib's articles, for checking that part of the vacuum system.Boom diver, under the dash? Is that the same door they refer to behind the blower motor?

Thanks Junkie. I knew there was a vacuum valve somewhere. It was on my list too, but I'll put it at the top of the list.

This forum rocks! I decided to check out the the tech articles at the top of the page and navigated to a tech bulliten that gave the entire sequence for reading the output at the control head (which I did not see in the fsm). Found parameter 34 and numbers were in spec. Followed the flow chatr...

No heat problem. need help solving.

I got my FSM and have spent many hours since reading and researching. I'm having a no heat problem. The dash vents have not worked for the ac for a while. All air comes out the defrost or floor. When I first reinstalled the hvac head we had heat or ac on demand thru the temp selector. Now I just...

    obdII scanners again?

I did a search here, but didn't come up with much. I'm looking at code scanners and just don't know what to get. I see hand held code readers like they have at Auto Zone, laptop programs for code and more sophisticated diagnostics, and even a website that gives you about everything you might...
