Help! Center A/C Vent Detached from Dash - Broken Threaded Connectors

Help! Center A/C Vent Detached from Dash - Broken Threaded Connectors

Actually, we are on same track. If I cannot already find some sort of threaded stud that can be glued to plastic, I could get a plastic bushing cut to the proper spacing (another problem to deal with as each side is different) and drill into it to make a thread for the screws. I am afraid if I...

Help! Center A/C Vent Detached from Dash - Broken Threaded Connectors

Center A/C Vent Pics The threaded plastic studs (2) are broken off - I wonder if this is a part that can be purchased somewhere as threaded plastic inserts may bust for any number of reasons and could need replacing. In this case, no accident, no nothing as far as I can tell and they have...

Help! Center A/C Vent Detached from Dash - Broken Threaded Connectors

Amazing what can happen to all plastic car. I have a 34000 mile 96 CE LT4 Corvette, never had accident, perfect condition, garaged undercover most of the time. I noticed that the center vent was loose and discovered that the vent had come out of the threaded connectors -they had completely...

    Noise from dash

Broken center vent screws Thanks - hopefully there are holes left to screw into. I was actually thinking something along these lines. I wonder is this a common problem with C4s? I have never heard of this happening for any vehicle. I guess "plastic" has its limits!:rotfl

    Noise from dash

Noise I don't know it this is the problem at all, but I had a vibration coming from the center vent. I noticed that each of the torx screws (2) holding it in was loose, so figured easy fix - WRONG! The screws could not tighten up so I removed the vent and found that each was screwed into an...

    LT4 LT4 Collectibility

Collectibility I think you are probably right. But there are exceptions to the rule, like the muscle car craze. A 65 vette with the 396 is worth a fortune and we all wish we had one in the garage - 2187 units. A 70 LT1 is also a good investment and had over 1000 units. This is not...

    LT4 LT4 Collectibility

    LT4 LT4 Collectibility

Nice post, agree completely! My LT4 CE came with a set of untouched original Goodyear runflats, with the packaging still on the tires, tucked away in a dark A/C space. Someday I will put these back on, but it will be for show way down the road. Cheers!

    LT4 LT4 Collectibility

That LT5 had a bad water pump and was a home remedy, with thanks to the Internet Forums. Where would us backyard hackers be without it! I had a bad climate control in my LT4 and with help from this forum, solved that problem with a little cleaning of the electronics. Would have had no clue...

    LT4 LT4 Collectibility

Before I purchased the CE/LT4 I was in the market for a ZR1. The ZR1 engine is fantastic and all, but the car really does not outperform the LT4 coupe and the LT4 engine may be more forgiving down the road, as it was not put together by GM (Mercury Marine). I have heard the engine is...

    LT4 LT4 Collectibility

GS vs CE LT4 Nothing wrong with the GS at all - but from an investment standpoint (not looking at aesthetics, which you either love or not, unlike CE) I see no advantage at all - either the GS is priced too high or the CE LT4 is way low. So, I would stick with the CE LT4. It will catch up to...

    LT4 LT4 Collectibility

LT4 Value You would be amazed at the lack of knowledge about these great engines, even among some Corvette "experts"? Its a matter of time, one year engines are always in demand - as a rarity and, even better with LT4, design excellence. Pack that in with Corvette (see 396 example) and you...

    LT4 LT4 Collectibility

96 CE LT4 vs GS The BEST deal out there is the 96 CE w/LT4. The Grand Sport unfairly overshadows and there is always going to be a limited appeal small group that will like the shades of shocking blue/red-orange and black wheels. Here are some facts to ponder on GS vs CE w/LT4: - 1000 GS...
