Also the shifter handle with the overdrive push button comes with it. I forgot to put those with the shifter for the picture. Another note. The trans is the MK2 gear ratio for the overdrive which makes it .68.
Here's the shifter and linkage that comes with the deal:
The rubber accordian boot thing that the three shift rods go through is slightly cracked so that should probably be replaced.
We removed this trans from my son's '87 coupe with 130,000 miles on it. The trans worked very well (overdrive was firm and crisp, all gears shifted great, doesn't pop out of gear when lifting quickly off the accelerator, etc...) and appears to have been well maintained by the first two owners...
When I had mine apart I drilled a small hole into the base of the hole that the bottom bolt threads into. I drilled the hole from inside the case just into the bore of the original hole that the bolt threads into. Then when I want to drain the fluid I just remove the bottom bolt off the back...
I have a stock depth pan on mine. I don't think I would want a deep pan. Too close to the ground. I also prefer to use a steel pan over aluminum. In case you hit the ground the steel is more likely to dent than crack open like aluminum.
I'm guessing that the lines won't attach in the same place, which means you would have to do some bending/cutting to get them to fit the th400. I don't know how big the cooler is for the 4+3. I bet it's not as big as you will need for the th400 tho. I think I would start fresh with a new...
Thanks, jdm. I put in a B&M Megashifter that is made for console install on f-body's from something like '82-92 I think. I had to take apart the console a bit and get it bolted in and then I had to do some cutting of the console trim pieces a bit. The cheap rubber boot that comes with the...
I put the th400 in my formerly 700r4 car. I did go with the Gear Vendors unit too tho. Take a look at my web site, I have a page about it there. I don't think you would have to do anything to make it fit. The th400 fits in easier than the 700r4 did. I know this for sure because it is much...
I've seen that $4500 mentioned but I've also seen $6500. I notice in the ebay listing that you posted the link to in another thread for a dark blue convertible the guy says it was a $6500 option. I think $6500 sounds more believeable. It cost me $4000 just to buy a really good...
I'm interested in this thread because I have a th400/Gear Vendors in my car. I put it in because I didn't want to waste any more money on a 700r4 and I think this is stronger than a ZF6. I just love this setup! I had my th400 built with a forward pattern manual valve body. This gives it...
I've heard Paul address this issue. He is a Minnesota radio talk show car expert. I think he is very carefull the way he talks about it so as not to upset any car dealers that advertise on the show. You can sense the way he talks about it that he may not be convinced it is okay to use. I'm...
I had a brand new ZZ4 motor put in a few years back. A new water pump and Dexcool also. The water pump developed a huge leak around the seal after less than 2 years. And I had flushed and refilled once after the first year. I have since flushed the Dex out and use green with distilled water...
Oh no, I bought the Gear Vendors overdrive for the Vette and it has fittings for a torque arm to bolt to. You have to cut the stock torque arm shorter and re-drill it. I couldn't get it to work for me 'cuz I'm not smart enough so I just engineered and fabricated a completely new torque arm...
I put in the B&M Megashifter that they make for the '82-93 F body console mount. Can't remember their part number. It took a bit of cutting on the top console plate of the Vette to get it to fit through. It bolted to the tunnel pretty well. I had the tranny out of the car at the time so it...
Sorry to hear about how hard that SR was. Just a note here. I just removed and replaced my mini-ram a couple weeks ago. It took me an hour to remove it. Then I took my time and cleaned up the gasket surfaces and the mini-ram (had been on a couple years and was dirty) so that took me about an...
Cool, I would like to get a set of those. I checked the web site but there don't seem to be any prices. Or maybe I just can't find them. How much did they cost you?
