    Loud ZZZZZ'S

Loudest I've had/heard was a B&B with x-pipe and headers. Although loud is relative, my Corsa with hogged out h-pipe and headers is unreal at WOT.

    91 with Code 61

Turn the ignition key on. Does the secondary vacuum pump under the passenger headlight cycle on then stop running? Duration on/off?

    clutch noise

Aaron can fix anything. The problem you are describing sounds like a pilot bushing. There is a fluted design that will correct the problem you are talking about. In my experience, they will all do this every once in a while. If it is cronic I would fix it. Ted

Just changed my rearend gears to 4.10 now i need to fix speedometer.

An analog interface correction, a digital interface correction, or new VSS gears. If you are staying with 4:10s, the gears are the easiest. If you think you will change gears, splicing in a digital interface correction container will be the best. Lingenfelter used to be the only ones that...

    Radio Repair

First, have you tried different CDs or the same one? Mine is tempermental with a few CDs I have as the edge is not square. Second, removing the "head unit" is not that tough. You'll have to move the shifter console out of the way. Then, remove the dash faceplate. The CD player will be held...

    ZR-1 Purchasing Advice

Road Trip. If you ship, do NOT use Horseless Carriage. Spend the money and ship by Intercity. I have learned this lesson already. ted

    Engine cleaning for ZR1

Do NOT spray water on the engine. It will get into the V and cause problems. There are several different opinions on how to clean the engine after this point. Simple Green is corrosive to aluminum, and it will darken the paint as well. Regardless, start with a bone COLD engine. I would...

Doug Rippie chip and air filter performance?

Most DRM chips are off the shelf but can be "customized" for mods (since there are no mods then just a standard performance chip). I would bet it has sooner fan turn on temps, CAGS disabled, and timing advanced. The airfilter will make little to no difference if it is a drop in. The chip...

    WetOkole Seat Covers

I had them on my 95 sport seats. I loved them. Mine were black and not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. I only had them on the car for about 500 miles. I loved them. Only drawback is they are a little thick. You'll never notice it if you're under 6'2"; in a 95 at least.

    Think I found a ZR1...need advice!

There are a lot of "it depends". Once you drive the car the $2k will seem trivial. -What color? -Mods? -Tire condition? -Interior condition? -Paint condition? -Engine coloration? -Winshield delamination? -Tops? -Wheel condition? -Documentation? These are my concerns in buying a ZR-1. There...

    Considering purchase of '90 ZR-1, have Q's...

Carfax is emailed. Look at www.zr1.net/ZR1_sale.html for a comparison of prices (if you haven't). Lynn Haven FL is in the Panama City area. I live there during the times shown and didn't see the car. There are a few folks I know there I could track down if you're really interested in this car...

    1989 ZR-1 Parts Wanted

danny.giesler@LMCO.COM Dan Giesler had two prototype engines for sale that Mike P bought. The 89 motor from the Pearl Diamond White car Joe Roebuck put together is still for sale last I knew. It was rumored that Dan had a bunch of things from the junkyard. Don't know nor am I sure the email...

    Low Tire Pressure Warning Sensor

This is close to true if not exact. If you crank the car for three consecutive times without driving it 25 miles or more, the light will stay on. If you want to check the codes, properly short the ALDL plug with a paperclip and turn on the ignition. Count the lights and it will tell you the...

    I want a ZR1, need advice

Rumor has it that the car at Roger's has had some body work--I have not seen the car and cannot confirm it. But I too love Admiral Blue......and Black/Red.......and Red/Beige. Buy the best car you can afford and enjoy it.

lt-5 oil leak and mileage questions

I can't speak for this particular car, but LT5s in general are very reliable. The engine should be fine; the normal corvette "stuff" will still be GM. With that said, the LT5's oil pan will seep oil and the bolts will work their way loose with time. The oil you are smelling is probably from...

GM phasing out MercuryMarine on the LT5?

OBD II Ultimately GM used OBD II compliance as the official reason to cancel the LT5 if I remember correctly. They did not want to certify it to that level due to the extra cost +++. ted

    Differences between 93, 94, and 95's?

There were subtle differences in 94 to 95. There were several mods to "tighten" the car up--read that velcro and goo. Sidegills already mentioned. Interior leather was of better quality in 95 and well as stitching. Seatbelts were different. Reverse lockout was removed in 95.

How Many 415 Cars Are Out There?

    spark plug recomendation?

In my humble opinion--in daily driving there is little to no difference with a well tuned/maintained/fairly stock car and good gas (at least 92 octane). I gapped mine at .035 and have no problems. Some folks have gapped them at .050 and have gotten a rough idle or hesitation at tip in. The...
