Question: Best way to insure 1960 Corvette

Agreed Value insurance - State Farm I'm sure some thought they bought Agreed Value insurance from State Farm and didnt get it, but my policy is with SF, is specified as Agreed Value, and reads significantly different than my other car policies with SF. They did require a formal appraisal to...

Question on verifying rear end numbers for a 63

Thnx JZ... just getting back to this after the holidays. So you're saying diff numbers arent even considered in flight judging? Wasnt aware of that... with all the other comparatively minor details tracked in judging, hard to believe they dont even look at diff assembly dates to ensure...

Question on verifying rear end numbers for a 63

OK Heres a test for you NCRS guys. Looking to verify if these numbers for '63 rear end differential case are legit and would pass judging. Car assembly on Jan 21 '63 per vin 107217. Rear end case # is 3818753-N, casting date L222, assembly CE 1 16 63. Would these be correct for his...

Cater AFB 4 barrel identity/decode question

No. No tag on carb, so this must be a replacement carb, or maybe just the part with the "CD3" code on it. Do you know what the 'revision' was for? Is it possible this revision required a carb update including the part with the CD3 code on it?

Cater AFB 4 barrel identity/decode question

Thanks John Well, if you're right I'm a bit disappointed as virtually everything else on this car matches it's Jan 21 build date, and this suggests the carb is not the original. Any other place you can think of to double check the meaning of this code?? I believe your correct it has...

Cater AFB 4 barrel identity/decode question

Have Carter AFB 4 barrel on 63 SWC, 340hp 4 sp, built Jan 21, '63. Code on front of carb is 3461S, which is correct. But on front RH lower portion of carb is the code CD3 stamped into the body. I cant find reference to that code in the books (or I just missed it). Can anyone tell me...

    Coil and vacumn advance

Well.. installed the VC1810 (B28) this weekend. Good news... this made a big improvement. Started by changing out my existing B1 vac can for the new B28. Set dwell to 30* and base timing to 14*. With 24* from centrifugal, plus 16* from Vac should have a total of 54*. Initial look showed...

    Coil and vacumn advance

Thnx JohnZ.. this is beginning to make sense and actually lines up pretty good with my results. The engine builder told me he installed 'a little extra cam' in mine, and mentioned 30-30. I didnt know what that was at the time, and my vac is running ~10 at 800 rpms, which matches up quite...

Help on carb/electrical - idle and misfire problems

Agree... yes could be the source, but chain was replaced when rebuilt recently. However, heres what else I've learned... see if you agree. Vac is low at 7" Hg at idle (500 rpms - heavy cam)... I suspect current can is releasing its advance at about 8-10". Why do I say this? Only a...

    Coil and vacumn advance

Can anyone here set me straight on 327 340hp heavy cam engine on the following? Coil - I read that coil should be 1.7 ohms resistance on Primary.. and not less than 11 on Secondary. All aftermarkets seem to be around 9 on Secondary. This a big deal?? or should I just get a stock coil and not...

Help on carb/electrical - idle and misfire problems

OK... but sounds like I should install a clean air tube to ensure no dirt enters the air flow thru choke tube. I'll order one. I'll work on the timing, advance/springs, plugs, wiring this week.. might also open up the choke housing as I noticed the choke air plate does not close when I hit...
