Good Stock Replacement Clutch?

Just picked up a NAPA brand clutch today #1101020 $152.00 usd. It appears to be a Luk 04-020. From what I find thru a little research Luk is a German based manufacturer with a good reputation. The clutch kit I received from NAPA is made in Mexico. The clutch and pressure plate look decent but...

    74 Input shaft 10 or 26 spline?

Thanks. Pretty sure it’s all original judging by the amount of road grime underneath. I think they where all 26 spline after 71 or so. I shall post if I find otherwise :thumb

    74 Input shaft 10 or 26 spline?

Getting ready to install new clutch on my 74 and wanted to stock up on parts before I pull the transmission out. I’ve heard after a certain year GM went to all 26 spline input shafts. But as far as searching for a clutch kit for my 74 I keep finding a 10 or 26 spline option. Was there a...

    Help! Steering adjustment.

Can’t really tell from your photo but if you look at the steering knuckle where the tie rod end connects sometime there are two holes. If your tie rod is in the hole closest the wheel it can be removed and placed in the adjacent hole further away from the wheel. This will unfortunately decrease...

    Rack and pinion leaking

Problem solved. Replaced the 0-rings on the high pressure and return lines to the rack and pump and no more leaks. Wasn’t the tension screw after all. Kind of hard to track the leak down due to clear color of the power steering fluid. :eyerole

    Rack and pinion leaking

Just installed a Rack Attack conversion. Fired the car up to bleed the system and noticed aleak coming from what I believe to be the tension adjustment screw. Can’t seem to find much info as to if there is an o-ring or a seal of some sort that can be replaced? Wondering if anybody here has any...

Larger crank pulley for power steering pump?

Never mind. Found a pulley with the correct diameter at the local pick'n pull. Gotta love the interchangeability of a Chevy small block :thumb

Larger crank pulley for power steering pump?

Just a little background. My 74 originally had power steering but there was no pump when I bought the car. I was lucky enough to find a never installed Rack Attack rack and pinion conversion on Craigslist. Installation of that has gone well so far but now installing a power steering pump where...

Question: Mangled my front brake lines.

I haven’t gotten around to any of the lines from the master cylinder on back but in my case I did manage to use all the original retaining clips and bolts on the front half. Some where a little stubborn but an impact gun (if there was access) did wonders. The original lines had a spring like...

    installing front springs

I just did the springs on my 74 with Moog 5758 constant rate springs. They where significantly shorter than the original progressive ratesprings by about 4 inches and needed very little compression to get them in. I ended up using my internal spring compressor with the 4 hooks. I removed the...

Question: Mangled my front brake lines.

Well, ended bending and double flaring my own 3/16 brake lines. Luckily steel line was cheep because took me a couple tries to get it right. I’ll admit doesn’t looks as good as stock but pretty decent. Just wanted to pass on to anybody attempting to do their own brake lines that most generic off...

Question: Mangled my front brake lines.

Was in the process of replacing the flexible front brakelines on my 74 and as luck would have it I have destroyed the hard lines. (had a feeling this would happen) Just wondering if most here just buy the prefab lines or has anybody tried bending their own lines such as the ones that can be...

    Question: Front spindles, Left, Right????

Thanks for the reply Bill. I was referring to the actual spindle itself. I’ve been checking a few parts vendor websites and there seems to only be one part number for the spindle alone so I assume they are symmetrical from left to right. I’m just going to put them back together. I at least have...

Help! Adjusting the front passenger side fender.

I have the same issue with my 74. I’m pretty sure the fender was replaced at one time just because the bonding agent looks deferent on the fender compared to the other. I honestly don’t think there is any way to adjust the fender being that it is actually bonded to the firewall. I’ll be...

    Question: Front spindles, Left, Right????

OK, Have my front suspension disassembled. Mostly everything is pretty easy to distinguish between left and right side of car. Took pictures of everything for reference. Couple weeks go by. Taking my time cleaning and painting everything with POR 15. And I go to assemble the spindles and to my...

    Hello All. New Member here

Hello all. Just would like to introduce myself. I was a member many years ago when I had my 84 C4. After moving, changing internet providers and so on kinda lost touch. Anyway traded my 84 for a 74 C3 and started tearing into it. This was a great place for information back when and I’m sure...
