    Engine Replacement

Jack, I agree with you that $300 is a lot just for a cam. But if you put a new cam in the 260hp motor you will lose the warranty (I think)... I'm in the same boat or vette, my '78 L-82 goes through 1 qt / hour... I'm thinking of either the 260 or 290, I agree they are of great value. I my get...

    Car is surging

JohnZ is usually right, but I thought surging is more spark related... Maybe fouled out plugs, wrong gap, wrong plugs (platinum in a non-platinum car)... Wrong timing or dwell, maybe meter is off calibration...

    4 Spd Shifter Adjustment

Mmm... My car shifts fine, all gears ('78). The problem is when I go into reverse, the car bogs down. I was told here that reverse might be hung up on first... When I looked into putting the adjusting tool in the shifter (I put dual exhaust in already), it didn't look the ez on your back. Maybe...

Simple answer...your cars value is with the Original Motor! You can rebuild it with any performance you like...from mild to wild... If you're going to re-sale it anytime soon (sometimes it's unplanned). The Original Motor will get the most return $$$. Plus you don't have to store it (and rust...

Opinions Wanted!!! What's the Best True Dual Exhaust System

Without a doubt, go to a reliable shop. I would not get a kit for this,to do it on your back, plus a H-pipe like I have or an X-pipe is needed (or should I say...should be installed)... It took an expert over 5 hours to do mine...

Dual exhaust conversion on a 1979

It took an except over 5 hours at a shop to put my true duals in with a H-pipe, what do you think it will take you on your back? Plus you can't put in an H-pipe yourself... I'm just saying think about it... Vettes are NOT your usually car...

Dual exhaust conversion on a 1979

I would NOT get a kit... Go to a good muffler shop and have them make a custom exhaust... if your keeping the engine mostly stock, go with 2 1/4" (under 325 hp)...
