    4.7 Second Crossfire 1982 Corvette

Very interesting that you have the renegade intake as I tried this and the engine would not rev above 2000 as the mixture went very weak. But I am using the standard fuel system. You mention that you are using the 85 Electronic spark module. I think mine is US and have been looking for a...

Crossfire Upgrades: My Quest for More Air and More Fuel

Very interesting to hear all the comments about improved performance form the L83 engine. My 82 has the original ECM/ECU and I presume the original chip. I have the Edelbrock Performer cam and their Street C/Heads. I now have about 260 BHP on the rolling road. It goes well but does have a lot...

    Collectors Edition Fuel Tank

It is possible but I've not found any holes or damage inside. There is also vapour venting system which has not worked for years, in fact I capped off the vacuum lines to it but I have now reinstated it so that may help. I am waiting to fit a new pump to the tank now so shall see what happens...

    Collectors Edition Fuel Tank

Yes, the fuel level doesn't seems to make a difference. However, I have now got he tank out of the car and have been venting it over a few days and this lining has now returned to its original shape and is now hugging the tank wall. I can only conclude that the high temperatures we have had in...

    Collectors Edition Fuel Tank

The crash protection bladder in my 1982 tank has swelled and in hot weather prevents the sender unit float from free movement causing the fuel gauge to stick at approx half full. Seems OK in colder weather. I understand these bladders are no longer required but has anyone tried to cut it up and...

    Help! 1982 corvette knock sensor

You will need good luck to find one. You need Pt no. 1997463. I have been looking for one for three years with no luck so far. I have an early C4 one fitted but no sure if it works. If you find one let me know, thanks.

1982 Corvette Crossfire Injection Timing Issue?

Have you looked at cam lobe wear. This was an issue I had a few years ago. I am assuming the cam timing is set up OK. Are the compressions about the same for each cylinder? If not then you could have a valve problem. When the ignition timing was done was the brown/orange wire disconnected from...

    Knock sensor.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 1997463 knock sensor used only on the Collectors edition and other sensors used on early C4s. Both have the L83 engine. The 1997463 is unobtainable in the world it seems. I am going to experiment and fit an early C4 unit and see what happens...

    82 Collector's Edition

In the UK this model could be around 15K - 25K Pound Sterling depending on its condition. Very few of them over here. As this seems the only way to ask a question on this site-- does anyone know of a replacement knock sensor for this model? Mine is part number 1997463. unobtainable over here...

    Renegade

Yes I tried the Renegade on my 82 Collectors. The engine did not run above about 1800 rpm as the fuel system could not keep up with the superior air flow. There is very little adjustment on the standard Rochester TBIs. I tried fitting extra resistors to the sensors to fool the ecu into putting...

    C3 Brakes

Has anyone tried to fit Wilwood brake calipers to their C3. I understand that there is a set of bolt on calipers which are available but not sure if they would be worth fitting. My standard Delco Marine ones, with lip seals, tend to leak slightly if the car is not used for a while. Wilwood uses...

    Edelbrok Pro 4 EFI

I am tempted to fit the above EFI system to my 82 Crossfire. I understand that this is a stand alone conversion and would not require my original ECU. But I have concerns about other inputs to the ECU such as the transmission , knock sensor , air con and MAP sensor. Has anyone tried this so...

Give me the skinny on the renegade intake for the 82 crossfire

In a word - Don't. The old Rochester TBIs will not keep up with the better airflow the Renegade provides and the fuel system will become weaker and weaker. In fact mine would not run above 2500 rpm and it got very hot. Save your money.

    Help! 82 Corvette issues

MAP sensor Mack, Have a look at the vacumn pipe up to your MAP sensor. If this has become disconnected from the manifold or is broken or split the fuel system will run very rich and the engine will cut out. Failing that try replacing the sensor. Does the ecm throw up any fault codes? UKVETTEHEAD

    C3 Brakes

I have never heard of that. How is this done? Do you run 2 separate bleeder hoses? Please explain. Yes , you need two bleed hoses connected to each bleed nipple on the caliber halves. With someone on the brake pedal , open each bleed nipple in turn, close off with the pedal on the floor...

Anti Knock sensor for my Collectors Ed. C3

Does anyone know where I might get hold of one of these sensors. They seem to be unabtainable. Pt No is 997463. Apparently, this is the only suitable one for the 1982 CE model. Thanks in advance. UKVETTEHEAD.

    C3 Brakes

Brakes.. You may have corrosion on the bores of the callipers which is preventing the seals doing their job. You may need to update with the stainless steel inserts. or swap out the callipers for newer ones. Air is getting in through the seals somehow, they are only good at sealing on the...

    1982 Collector edition info needed

Collectors Edition - After twenty years I have had my CE for nearly twenty years. I bought it here in the UK and it had 28000 miles. Now it has over 60000. All the comments made here are correct but I would add that it is important that all the sensors for the cross fire system are good. I...

82 Collectors . L83 Fuel system runs too weak

L83 Fuel System runs too weak I assume you mean fuel flow. The pump supplies about 10.5 psi at the TBIs and no way to increase it apart from fitting a better pump but the system is designed to operate between 9 and 13. Maybe the injectors need cleaning? Thanks anyway.

82 Collectors . L83 Fuel system runs too weak

I wrote a previous post about the Renegade Manifold and how the fuel system could not keep up with the increase air flow. Having refitted the standard intake, i think the engine is still running on the weak side. Recently on a trip to Italy and Switzerland with high alitide passes to drive, the...
