it is the 12 volt supply for the solenoide, the part is serviced by GM and is used on a number of ATs, i bought one last year but don't have the part number. frank

I agree with the others, if the light was going on and off it is definetly an electrical connection.

4/3 that 4/3 can be repaired to work correctly, often the problem is people bandaiding them and then they create greater problems. I did mine recently, followed the book and had some guidance from David Fulcher and It is perfect..yours is an 86 and does not have all the problems the early ones...

however all these items are readily available, but yes it would be easier to buy one with an auto.

it should be a relativly easy swap, you just need to get the shift linkage and other related parts, all of it except the lingage is typical GM stuff, what are you going to do with the 4/3, take care over there.
