The numbers that you are talking about are punched at the engine plant when the engine was built. They break down as follows:
T = Tonawanda Engine Plant
11 = November
01 = First Day of the Month
CSR = This Engine Code indicates 454 cu. in, 270HP, Rochester Q-Jet, Hyd Lifters...
I would register it right away. Then you can use it any of the good weather days as you work on some of the small things that you want to fix on the car.
I like to keep all my cars fully registered and insured just in case "the driving mood" strikes me.

Welcome to the CAC. I love that car. I still think that they all should have six tail lights. I applaud you for keeping with the period theme of when the car was first modified. I have a lot of fond memories of cars like that.

I like them both, and for the same reasons as most of the previous posts. The oval looks very linear and matches the rest of the motor while displaying more of the carbs.
The triangle style looks good and to me still says Tri-Power BB Chev
