If I remember correctly the pink wire gets it's power FROM the starter solenoid. So if the harnesses under the hood are new and the pink wire isn't hot at the cowl wouldn't this indicate a bad solenoid switch? This is a recently acquired '66 L79 Convertible and I notice that in addition to the...
I know there're the tires, spoiler and brakes, but are there any other differences like suspension. I'm a little late to this party but have got the itch. For a street car I'm not sure I should order the Z07 mostly because of the short life and high price of the tires.
Not sure if this is the proper section to post this question in. Some MerCruiser stern drive boats with power steering use a steering valve that's the same as the one on the end of the drag link on a Corvette with power steering. When I had a shop that did a lot of Corvette repair in the 80's...
The Dodge car in the next stall was something the bodyshop had in for repairs at the time. The only Dodge I've ever owned is a '96 Viper GTS that's only got 4200 miles and hasn't been out of the garage in 3 or 4 yrs. As far as the ending up with so many, most of my cars were bought when cars...
Not no, HELL NO.
Chevrolet has made some truly bone headed decisions with the Corvette over the years and as a result sales numbers have fluctated all over the place. One that comes to mine was making the '91 ZR1 Corvette so externally similar to the standard car which cost half, thus killing...
Mike, the car could very well have been swapped, but the options are not typical of something the dealers back then would have ordered for stock, meaning it was likely a pre sold order. The GM data only shows that it was built by GM 2/18/69 and sold new to Jack Head Chev. in Alhambra, Ca...
This car was sold new by a dealer in a small town by Anaheim. It was Fathom
Green with Saddle leather and either 435 or L89 and turbo 400. It has
speedwarning, leather and was originally side exhaust. When I bought it over 20
years ago it had been painted burgundy, the original BB hood was...
I got the build and delivery report from NCRS today and have a little more information. The car was sold new in California. The town name is Alhambra and it's near L.A. There is no longer a Chevy dealer in town according to the Toyota store I got doing an internet search. The Vin number on the...
Unfortunately there were a lot of midyear colors I don't care for, and '69's too for that matter. I was never a great fan of Elkhart. One of my friends did an Elkhart '67 435 car that I helped with and got a Duntov in about 1990 (or whatever year the Nat'l Convention was in Anahiem) and like...
It's Dupont, mixed at the bodyshop, but I don't know the numbers although I can probably get 'em.
We had a really good original paint place under the rear window rubbers when they were removed and the color smeared on it by hand was almost perfect.
Interestingly the bodyshop mix was a dead...
I've owned it since the 80's and it was stripped to bare glass and totally disassembled in mid 70's, never to see the road again. Maybe this is the year.
I've never changed the color on one of my cars, but I came very close to painting this one Riverside Red since I don't care much for the...
And don't forget proper camshaft assembly lube and breakin oil since the oils nowdays don't have zinc. If you don't compensate and break it in right with RPM and lubricants you'll probably wipe a lobe.
I'm kinda' surprised at Wilcox's comment on the previous page "all cars 68 through 82 had the rivets. This is untrue. Sometime after 1970 they started bonding the header bar directlly to the surround without the bonding strips OR the rivets. I'm not sure what year the change was made 'cause I've...
I bought it in about 1986 or 1987. I'll go look again, but I'm fairly certain it wasn't a side exhaust car (based on my poor memory). It's bare glass now and the rocker mouldings are off the car, so it'd be easy to tell. The taped on shipping label on the gas tank shows a dealer in Arkansas...
Any of the Corvette supply houses should have 'em. I like the rebuilt ones with the hardened ends on 'em because they don't wear like the originals. Proper rear camber is the key to long life.
Thanks for sharing pictures. We SURE wanted to be there. We made reservations at Seralogo, next door to Old Town months ago, planning to do both NCRS and Mecum Auction like we did year before last. (Seralogo ain't the nicest place in town but they let us bring our 4 legged kids;))
Anyway...
I'm familiar with the radiators/core supports and expansion tanks.;) Of my 5 '69's, one is an L88 that was new here originally and was at Earthquake '88 in Bloomington in 1988 and one of only 2 of the '69 L88's in attendance that year to be judged (96+%) also 2 NCRS Top Flights and PV, L88/M22...
I don't think there's much explanation to be found in the books. The only REAL part that doesn't fit is the 400HP plaque on the console. Since the rear end, tach and transmission define it as 435HP or L88 assuming they haven't been altered or changed, and I'm absolutely positive the...
