Don't think of red as high strength vs. blue as medium strength. Red is commonly referred to as PERMANENT and blue as REMOVABLE.
The only time I've used red is to install a reducer bushing on the top of a replacement water pump for the bypass fitting.

I recently had a problem with my muncie popping out of first. The gears were brand spanking new - all of them - had about 1000 miles on the setup when this started happening. Well... I got underneath it last night and found the problem.
My 1/2 linkage was adjusted to be as short as possible...
I only have a 2 car garage but use a 900/1500 W oil filled (sealed) radiator type heater. It is inexpensive and comes with a digital thermostat. It keeps the large 2 car garage at about 50 degrees with no problem. It is safe and portable and you do not need to buy fuel for it. They thermostat...
take a poll and you'll find many people running around without hardened seats on unleaded gas. The heads I bought had them on the exhaust but none on the intake. I spin the engine to 6500 all the time and have not had a problem. The are only two situations where you need hardened seats:

Call the BBB. Al rips off people all the time. I believe he is on EBAY as MZTRCARB or something like that. He gets blasted on any and all corvette forums whenever the subject of vendor performance pops up. Ooops - I see that you mentioned EBAY in your original post and that I have his user ID...
I had this recently and it WAS my manifold/sidepipe bolts. The car started backfiring horribly so I limped home and two were missing and one was loose. That noise you are talking about is definitely unique.

A few small clarifications
The 300 HP motor had the 2.5" manifolds in both '64 and '65 and the 350HP motor had the 2.5" manifolds in '65. '65 350HP motor also had the holley carb in '65. That last sentence above is right on!

Midyears are a disease and you have been infected. Better start making financial arranagements becuase there is no cure and complications occur frequently.

Been there done that. I put my battery on trickle charge overnight and it has lived another 2 years. No damage to ballast resistor or points or anything....

bonll,
You need to select your piston in the context of several other factors
1. Cylinder head combustion chamber volume
2. Piston/deck clearance
3. Head gasket
All 4 items need to be balanced to get you into your desired compression ratio which sould be 10:1 to 10.5:1 with the 30-30...
For this particular application, it's all the same. Most prefer ultra copper not for any particular physical or chemical characteristics but for the color.... it's almost chevy orange! If any sqeezes out, it will blend in nicely.

I don't have any personal experience with this guy but every review I've read has been very positive. I'm not sure if he participates in this forum. When I get around to it, my speedo will be going to him for rebuild. My NOS tach will be going to him for calibration too.

Marlar,
i have a similar issue. Needle will not go below 10 and between 10 and 75 MPH it really doesn't work. I'm I'm above 75 it works for short periods of time. My odo works - even the trip odometer! Your speedo needs a rebuild.
