Rumor Mill: V6 Corvette is Coming

The only way I could see a 6-cyl Vette is if they could get it to out perform Z06. Of course if they managed to do that it would have to cost more and would defeat the purpose of coming out with an affordable, fun car for the masses that could bring up sales. Something I noticed about marketing...

    Valvoline Instand Oil Change Warning

Sounds like Jiffy Lube service is crap across the entire country. I took my vette in for an oil change once, looking at the receipt when I got home it said they hit 5 zerks. Of course there are 8 on the car and I was wondering how the kid got an odd number. Weeks later I took my Blazer in to...

    It is possible!

Just wondering, where did you spot the jack stands in the rear? I've been placing mine by the jack points since they are the only place I know is solid.

    occasional starting problem

VATS is Vehicle Anti-Theft System. One thing to consider, if you get a no start, rock the car, and it starts right up I doubt it is VATS. When the system reads a key fault it will put itself in a suspend mode for 7-11 minutes. I may not be completely right on the time but it is definatly more...

    Winter Help!

As far as driving the thing in the winter you have to remember that although the body is fiberglass but most of the car is still some kind of metal. I looked a a DeLorean that someone got the bright idea that he could drive in Illinois winters because the body is stainless on fiberglass. In...

    Catalytic Converter type?

I don't know what the specific laws are over there but I would ask if you could put on a 3-way, get a regular front y-pipe, and see if it meets the requirements. Maybe you can get out of having to buying the precats every year.

    Catalytic Converter type?

I have been told, but have never confirmed, that the system on early C4's is a three way system with the main cat being a two way oxidation catalyst for CO and hydrocarbons and the precats begin the reduction catalyst for NOx.

Code 26 problem, can't find root cause

Checking my Haynes manual, code 26 is the Quad Driver Module #1 Circuit. It says to check the resistance of the EGR, Canister purge, and AIR pump relay coils, which should all be over 20ohms. Replace any solenoid less than 20ohms. (I think this is the first time I acutally got some useful...

    Price help on 86 convertible

Looking at the picture, I would say that someone has definatly messed with the odometer. They were just careful/smart enough to not get too greedy and cause a problem with CarFax. CarFax is a nice tool to have but is not always right. As an example, my 01 Blazer got clobbered and took well over...

    Price help on 86 convertible

A quick not about the odometer in early C4s. The odometers have an antitamper which leads to having white lines appear between the numbers when someone tries to roll it back. Looking at the picture of the odometer you can clearly see the line between the 8 and 4 between and part of the line for...

    R-24 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Thanks for the advice on the drier. When we hooked up the system to the tester in the shop we could see that it still had a little pressure so I don't think it was completely open. I'll bring it up when I take the car in on Friday.

    R-24 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I just got an estimate for my 87 for a new compressor and refill. The sheet says $57 per pound for R12 or $45 for R134a. Since I know the problem is with the shaft seal on the compressor, and the rest of the system is fine, I decided to just replace the compressor and have it refilled with R12...

    Weatherstriping Opinions

The passenger side fits in fine. I took a closer look at the windshield piece and can see that the drivers side has been pulled out to get it to go around the frame. Unfortunatly that piece is still in good enough shape that I can't justify spending $199 to replace it for a gap I can put some...

    Weatherstriping Opinions

If it's the guys I bought the targa side strips from, SmartParts, (they were right next to the main building by the door), I'm having some problems. The front of the thing just won't seal and I have a 1/8 inch gap there. Of course if I bought the complete kit it may seal up fine. I did notice...

    shimmy when targa is off

It's probably normal, but I did have a bad front tire that would hit a harmonic at 53mph and cause the same thing.
