01 front headlights

My 2001 corvette headlights when retracted make a loud grinding noise for 3-5 seconds. Any ideas ?

There are many, many posts on this board about this problem. You are seeing a very common problem. The gear in the head light motor is going bad. There is are several very good write ups on fixing it. I ordered the parts and fixed mine on my own, and I'm not much of a mechanic. So, the instructions are good and the fix isn't too difficult. Only about 3 hours work for a novice.
