My 04 with 1000 miles set check engine light, 2 codes left bank lean, right bank lean. I have blackwing, power duct, VR air foil, and the front airfflow vents.

The computer should learn the propeer mixture, why did it go lean? :(

Thanks c4c5specialist thats got to be it. Start thinking and stop complaining and it'll come to you

C4C5,
I have the same problem on my '04 Z06 with a Halltech Stinger. I even taped up the connection between the MAF and bridge. I don't see how any unmetered air could be getting through. Hooking up the stock airbox to the Halltech bridge does not throw codes. For that matter, hooking up the Halltech warhead filter to the stock bridge does not throw codes. It's just the full Halltech stinger that does it.

Jim Hall says the only way to eliminate the problem is to get the car tuned. What are your thoughts?

I had no trouble when driving about four hundred miles no code, the car was at idle for a few minutes, get in and theres that light.
Mark when did yours throw the code

HI there,
Honestly, I have never seen an aftermarket filter cause that much of a problem, even Halltech.
Something is underlying creating the issue.
I have alot of c5 in my area that run Halltech with no problems.

Allthebest, c4c5:hb

Mart,
Mine throws codes randomly. Sometimes at start up, sometimes while driving. I think it's a question of the MAF not giving the pcm and accurate flow rate due to disturbed air passing over the wires. The warhead filter attaches directly to the MAF and there isn't enough time for the air to smooth out before passing through the MAF. This was not a problem with my '01 because the MAF had a screen to smooth air flow. One of the local tuners prefers the Halltech Trap to the Stinger because it adds another air bridge between the filter and MAF allowing the air to become more laminar before it hits the MAF. This results in accurate metering and avoids the leans codes from being thrown.

Perhaps adding another coupler between the filter and the MAF would solve the issue.

Since I started a thread on this on another forum, quite a few people have said they have experienced the issue. With Blackwings also.

How did they resolve it. should I install the factory MAF with the screen, I now have one from grannatelli for cold air setups.

I didnt get a code untill I put on the grannatelli MAF and carbon bridge

Mart,

If you have a MAF with a screen, put it back on. That should solve the problem. GM removed the screen after '01 on the Z06. I've read a few threads about aftermarket MAFs and the consenus seems to be that they cause more trouble than they are worth.
