'06 Daytona Pace Car

What do you guys think of the paint scheme chosen for the next Daytona??

Looks a little busy to me though.

I remember that Camaros had some sort of "Daytona" treatment for factory replica pace cars back in the '80s. It doesn't appear that there will be an official release for this paint job to the general public on any special editions.

My fiirst impression is...I like it...I think!

I replied to this in another thread (FUGLY) a few days ago.
While I like the C6, there's something about the C6 Z06 that doesn't appeal to me (ugly scoop for one)...and that paint job is absolutely putrid IMO. Why are all those Indy cars painted in color schemes you woudn't want to be caught dead in? Simply driving a vette brings all the attention you need, you certainly don't need those wild paint schemes or worse, decals splattered all over the car.

I realize there are people that like something different and enjoy owning cars like this. To me, you're already driving something "very special" ......guess I'm just getting to be an old f*rt.:)

Once I understood what the paint scheme was representing, it's cooooool!

"The Corvette Z06 Daytona 500 wears a unique paint scheme, inspired by the hot-to-cool color transition of a space capsule entering Earth’s atmosphere at a high rate of speed. The paint scheme is carried out with an elaborate, interlocking scallops design – a twist on hot rod-style flames – that blends "hot" Lemon Drop yellow at the nose of the Corvette with Lemon Glow, Amber Ecstasy, Blazing Copper and Hot Poppy. The colors culminate with a cool Sapphire Trance blue color at the rear of the vehicle. DuPont, the sponsor of Jeff Gordon’s No. 24 Monte Carlo, supplied the colors, which are from the company’s "Hot Hues" line of automotive paint."

Now that I can see a full profile shot, I really like it!! Yes, it's almost to the point of "gaudy", but then again, with our own two red/white/blue Vettes (and one with the American flag graphics on both sides), what else would I say?!:L

I posted my thoughts on the other thread and 6 SHOOTER wanted to know what i was smoken. So i won't say any more ,other than Vettes are living breathing things that have feelings!

The difference is, your cars are "tastefully" done. They are not "gaudy" by any means (well, maybe the LT4 but that was a factory limited edition...not an "Indy" special) and I personally was drawn to your cars the moment I first laid eyes on them in person. They are two of the nicest vettes I've ever seen.
And no, I'm not kissing up....I have no need.....I just like nice cars/vettes.

Thank you, John. I know you are sincere, and I do appreciate your compliments.:)

I saw the car at the LA auto show today, it was not drawing a crowd. I thought it was way overkill, to busy and not very attractive. The paint job actually detracted from the stunning lines of the car, the paint is so busy I had to look for a moment to realize it was a Vette under all that.

The photos look much, much better than the car does in person.
