$1200 Reman Diff Leaking!

I am very happy to hear you can get your money back. They certainly do not supply quality workmanship. :r

Save The Wave! :w

Well.. they (fastcorvette) finally called me back and played stupid. They, rather Kymberlee the compalny liar, apparently never got my emails or my phone message. Needless to say they were not pleased when I informed them I had sourced my parts elsewhere and to not ship any more product.

They said they had 27 pair of T-arms going out tongiht... I beleive that... yea right!

I spoke with Gary of Vtechcorvette.com. He has most of what I need in stock at a less expensive rate. He will also rebuild my diff for me. I'm heading out to pick up the parts personally, and to drop off the diff for him to get cracking on.

NEVER EVER will I recommend fastcorvette/Duntov motor company. They should be ashamed of themselves for representing the Duntov name.

Gary at Vtech is my savior!

Gary at Vtech hooked me up tonight. I made the 1.5 hr drive out to his shop/house tonight. Very nice fellow. He hooked me up bigtime!

New Trailing arms assembled with SS hardware and PB units
SS Shims, nuts, bolts and cotter keys
3" Half shafts w/ solid u joints and threaded flanges
Rotors
Brake pads
Brake lines (Both chasis to T-arm and T-arm to caliper)
Stainless shock mounts

Also... he inspected my original diff while I was on hand and pointed out the fine points of his inspection. He said everything looks good, and he will clean it up, install new bearings, crush sleve etc for $575 and will make every effort to get it done for install before the show I have been trying to get to!

It feels good to have some parts to start installing!

Thanks again to Gary.

Lesson to be learned here. Always pay by credit card. A payment can be reversed it you did not receive the goods and/or services as promised.

Sorry to hear of your problem and the lousy service you received. I rebuild these on a custom basis and one of the last things I do with the rear end on a stand, facing down, is to fill it with 90 wt oil and leave it overnight. There should be no leaks and everything should spin smooth. I charge more then some of the places known, but I don't ship anything out unless I would use it in my car first.
Good luck

74 Bigblock,

You know sometimes I think if you didn't have bad luck, you would have no luck at all!! Glad to see you finally seem to have the problem resolved. What a PITA but guess that's just part of the program. Keep us posted and use the duct tape sparingly on re-assembly.

Thanks Randy! I will begin re-assembly tonight. I'll take some shots and post 'em as I go along. I'm just happy to have some parts to put in! The car has been down since Memorial Day!

Hope I am not hi-jacking this thread

GOT a question in regaurds to differential fluid, I tried to get penzoil synchromesh, I went to pepboys, auto zone and another local parts place, none have heard of it.. where can I get it?? also, I think there was someone on here looking for numbers on how many 74 big blocks were made, may of not been this thread but in case they are looking. I have the corvette book here I orderd some time ago, it say's there were 3,494 at the cost of 250.00 and the L-82 was 6,690 at the cost of 299.00 ( I have the L-82 ) looks like the cost of the small block was more back then, I wonder if that still hold true..

There's nothing special about 80W90 diff lube - just go to your Chevy dealer and get GM Diff Lube and two 4-oz. bottles of Posi additive and you're in business.

well I got 3 quarts of GM synchro fluid at 10.50 each.. and 3- 4oz of posi lube at 8.50 each (bought extra) and 2 quarts of penzoil GL-5 for 5.00 each... I can only guess my tight shifter in 1st and a little in 2nd has to do with some sludge that came out of the trans (manual) we'll see if the problem goes away.. also when I fill the trans, the car needs to be jacked on one side, I think this may cause a little more fluid being in there, when the car sits level. will this be a problem?

did it again! First was wrong oil in my engine, now this. I was in a bit of a rush, not paying attention and just when I was to put the plug back in the trans, I noticed I put the differential oil in :mad .. the only good thing that came out of this was, when I drained it again, the oil looked like it had very dark clouds in it with a bit of foam.. ;shrug so atleast I got more junk out..

I just received a provisional credit from my bank in regards to this fastcorvette fiasco. I've been minus $3396.75 since my order on 6/15. Today is 8/4. :ugh

Not to mention the additional expense of having to purchase everything again from another vendor! I was really out like 6 grand until now!

Never ever EVER do business with fastcorvette
