160 thermostat & TB Coolent bypass, WHY???

WHat is the normal temperature trip point for the original thermostat in a 1992, LT1 engine?

By going to a lower temp thermostat, what am I gaining?
What is the part number of a lower temp thermostat?

BTW, What will I gain by bypassing the coolant lines going through the throttle body?
If this is a good thing then how do I bypass it?
