17" vs 18" wheels

Is that a brand "Real" ???

sounds like yours are pretty similar to mine. You'll need some hefty flares to get them under the fenders too. Are yours 11"for all 4?

Also, what kind of tires are you going to run (street tires?) ??

I so far have only found that Hoosier will be making (soon) 16"tires:

29X15.50R-16LT
31X16.50R-16LT

Yeah, Real is the brand. I've got the flares already on the car. The wheels are 11" on all four corners. They are not for the street, so I will be using Hoosier 275/45-16 Street TD bias ply autocross tires, and maybe Hoosier slicks at a later date.

Here's a pic of the wheels. Not the best looking, and they don't offer a great amount of brake cooling, but they're strong, light, and very reasonably priced.

Twinnie,
I was just looking on www.tirerack.com and BF Goodrich offers a Radial T/A in 265/50-16, 275/65-16, and 295/50-16. They're cheap too, but they're not the highest performing tire. But it seems like these sizes might be good possibilities for you.

275 ? will those fit a 11"rim? I thought the max rim width for 275's was around 9"

Same for those BFG's, I looked at them too. 295/50/R16 is the largest they have and that one would fit a 10"rim but not a 12"

Nice wheels, they remind me of some Wide 5 wheels I've seen (and thought about getting)

W/ 10"wheels you are looking at 275+ range, w/ 11 or 12"wheels you are looking at over 315

They'll work. One of the guys I run with even had the 275's mounted on some 12" wheels. For the 275's I 'm getting Hoosier recommends a 9-11" wheel. For the 295 BFG, TireRack has specs that list the rim range as 8-11", I'm sure they'd be fine 12" as well.

Hmm.. good, then I'll go w/ a 275 or so on the front and some 300+ ones on the rear.

Twinnie,

Yeah, your wheels, sorry, I should have specified! I just ordered a set of Real Racing Wheels in 16 x 11". They're about 15lbs and bolt on directly, I hope.

Dave,

I live in Livonia.
