In the August '06 issue, Corvette Fever Magazine answered a reader's inquiry concerning a mysterious Corvette kit car featuring a unique Mexico-built body produced during the late '90s. Their research (with help from Rich Lagasse) discovered that the Mastretta brothers from Mexico had graduated from Texas University with engineering degrees, returned back home, and began a lucrative business in custom fabrication. Using detailed CAD illustrations and high-tech computer equipment, the two Mastretta brothers began producing '58 through '60 Corvette bodies. While their innovative body designs were sold throughout North America, the Mastrettas also fabricated the chassis, suspension geometry, and platform underpinnings for their retro creations. The idea of complete rolling, revamped Corvettes never did begin rolling out of their shop.
Unfortunately, the Mastrettas were only able to assemble a total of 20 vehicles as the costs of producing a complete vehicle in-house were too prohibitive for the small company. In lieu of manufacturing complete cars, they chose to begin selling off their custom bodies and chassis less suspension systems.

This is a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible reproduction model it is Inca Silver
with a Red interior all materials and workmanship are of highest quality
exterior Color is correct 1959 Inca Silver in a base coat clear coat painted
in May 2002. All correct emblems and trim. Bright metal in A1 condition and
windshield frame and glass is new. The cockpit and trunk interior as well
as interior doors and hood painted same quality and color as exterior..

Chassis is fully constructed custom rectangular with cross bracing including
area under dash it is good for 850 HP the frame and under body painted
and in show condition the paint is of show condition as well base coat is
Inca Silver with two coats clear..

Suspension Front - Custom tubular upper and lower control arms with Aldan
Eagle adjustable coil over shocks power rack and pinion steering utilizing
newer style Mustang II unit with collapsible Borgenson U joint arrangement
to steering column..

Suspension Rear- Custom Ford 9 inch housing utilizing a multi-link control arm
arrangement designed by Chubby Chassis of California. A Currie 370 traction lock
center section is utilized as well as Aldan Eagle adjustable coil over shocks. Axles
are Moser custom 31 spline alloy steel..

Brakes- Front utilize new 11 inch disk brakes with Ford Thunderbird turbo Coupe
calipers. Rear utilize new 11 inch disk brakes with Ford Thunderbird turbo
coupe calipers with built in emergency brake set up. A brand new Master
cower Brake 8 inch vacuum booster and dual reservoir power brake setup..

Wheels and Tires- Cragar Series 61 Polished Chrome 5 lug 4.5 bolt pattern and
4.5 backspace front 8 inch and rear 9 inch. -


Fuel System new steel 20 gallon tank and new GM mechanical Fuel pump..

Interior- All new Haywire electrical system. An original 1959 dash and speedometer
new VDO gauges replace original instruments. All new seats door panels
carpeting mats and insulation. A new Sony Explode Radio and CD player
with 200 watts output removable face plate and a remote control. A Sony
Explode 4 speaker system capable of handling 200 watts. All new 3 point
retractable safety seat belt system for both driver and passenger. Paint is
show condition. New original equipment rear view mirror a new Ididit GM
Style steering column..



Powertrain- The engine is a brand new complete GM 350 Crate motor developing 290 HP
Edelbrock Performer intake manifold with an Edelbrock 600 CFM carburetor
Proform HEI distributor FlowTech block hugger ceramic coated headers.-

The transmission is a reconditioned GM 700R4 overdrive automatic and the
Transmission shifter is a Lokar tail mount with neutral safety lockout.-

Radiator is a new 3 core utilizing two 12 electric cooling fan with automatic
Control sensor it has all new custom made 33 inch steel drive shaft with a
New Spicer gear and U joint all cables for accelerator linkage and the kick
Down switch and speedometer are Lokar braided stainless.-
