Don't place any bets

John,

I don't want to rain on anyones parade, but I feel compelled to ad the following lines to your post.

I sincerely hope your cousin makes his sale on e-bay, but if I were you I wouldn't place any bets. I have hauled 2 or 3 of these decklids ( that's what their called in the trade ) to Carlisle for the past 10 years, and have yet to sell a single one.

As far as repros, the reason no one is reproducing any of these is because of the lack of demand. During collisions, these covers rarely sustain any damage, so there are more of them laying around, then anyone will ever need. Just my two cents

Funny that you leave this message. We hauled it to Carlisle this weekend. Not even a looker. He stayed up the rest of today and tomorrow but we feel that we will be hauling it back.

You win some and lose some.

Thanks for the insight.

My cousin just listed the above on ebay. This is a hard to find part that is not reproduced. It includes the release handle, cables and latches.

Good Luck,

You might want to add if it is a hardtop plus convertible lid as some people are looking for a deck lid with both setups, as I was a few months ago. I found one rather than drill my original lid. Just my 2 cents....

This thread is over 6 years old and the original poster doesn't seem to be an active member here anymore. Still, you make a valid point for anyone seeking one of these. Mine was actually collision damaged on my '59 so I didn't feel bad about drilling it for a hardtop. I would like to find a nice soft top only lid though. I sold the hardtop (wrong year) 30 years ago.

Nice car - I had a 1959 years ago with both tops which was white with red interior. At any rate I posted on a corvette forum looking for a template so I could drill my convertible only (1963) lid and almost immediately I got a reply NOT to do that just post for a lid setup for both already, which made sense, and I did finding one for $175 including all hardware. I was pleased.
