I too would like a copy of that article. My blower only works on one speed. The cable works, but is very stiff. I will try the lubricating tips this summer.

Thanks

How do you get access to the rear blower?
Do you have to remove the carpet?
I've looked underneath in the wheel well and see nothing.
Where does the blower blow out? I see no vent except the outside vent?
Does it blow fresh air in or suck the air in the car out?
Is it hard to replace the blower cable with body on without pulling everything apart? :confused
:confused :confused :confused :confused

There's an opening with a metal deflector on it in the front of the driver's side rear wheel well, in front of the tire, which is a water drain hole for the duct from the blower to the outside vent, to drain rain and wash water that enters through the outlet grille.

Sorry...My Statment below is incorrect....Just had to many beers when I wrote this. The qoute by John Z above is the Correct answer.

If you look in the driverside rear wheel well you will see the exhaust vent in the well. Don't know why yous isn't..Mine is there.... The hot air exits at this vent.. Also ..the cable is Big Big Bucks. Like John Z Says........

$100.00 To $140.00

The blower is behind the carpet below the driver's side of the back window; it draws air from inside the car through the open space at the rear of the carpeted panel and blows it out of the outside vent grille in the "B"-pillar just rearward of the door opening, in an attempt to keep fresh air moving through the cockpit (and is largely ineffective, which is why it only lasted two years).

There's an opening with a metal deflector on it in the front of the driver's side rear wheel well, in front of the tire, which is a water drain hole for the duct from the blower to the outside vent, to drain rain and wash water that enters through the outlet grille.

The cable runs with the body wire harness underneath the carpet support panel inboard of the driver's side sill plate, then runs behind the quarter trim panel on its way rearward to the 3-speed switch assembly on the blower housing behind the carpeted panel. You need to remove the driver's seat, quarter trim panel, rear carpet trim panel, and pull the carpet back from the sill and remove the carpet support to replace the cable. Often, you can just remove the cable, hang it vertically, and treat it with penetrant and sewing machine oil to free it up, and re-install it; if that doesn't free it up, it's credit card time again.
