FWIW, they are now available. Received mine last Friday. Looks to be of very good quality. About $75.00 compared to the $300+ fetched on EBay last winter. Source is Shee-Mar.
 
Thanks John. I thought no one was listening. These units were very rare at one point as I noted. My current unit is fine. So the new one is a spare. I have learned not to mechanically cancel it as that seems to be the faux pas. Either turn with gentle pressure and not full click mode or go full click mode and let it cancel itself.
 
Yup, not manually cancelling them appears to be the secret for long life. The one in my car is the original, and could die at any point, so I got two - one as a spare, and one as potential trading material later on. We may not see another run of these things for a long time.

I saw them go for $350US on EBay last winter. Just crazy prices. I turn signal gently....But I do turn signal ;) .
