Hi guys, on my 67 vette my headligts will come up but when I push the switch for them to go back down they will not move at all.

Bad switch that needs replacing or what?

The button is very loose, not the housing but the actual push button.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Pete

Take the switch out of the car and see if you ge continuity with an ohm meter. 3 wires, 12v in and then out one of the other posts. It depends on which way you push the actuator.

If bad take the switch apart and see whats broke. Sometimes you can frebuild, sometimes you buy new.

Hi Pete,

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center.
Hope you get your headlight switch working.

Pete,

If you need, I can write some detailed instructions on how to take apart the switch. I take mine apart around every 5 years to clean the contacts in the switch.

Do you have a wiring diagram? AIM ( Assembly Instruction Manual)? 67 Chevy Chassis Service or Overhaul manuals?

A new button is around $140 ish.

Lemme know

Pete,

I had a very similar problem with my '66 coupe. Almost went so
far as to have the motors rebuilt. One day I got a "wild hair" and
pulled the switch on the dash. Used an emory board to clean the
contacts and that pretty much fixed the problem. It's very easy
to R&R this switch and should take all of 30 minutes total.

Good luck!

Welcome Pete, hope you get the switch working. Us mid year convertible guys have to make sure that the rest of the Corvette family doesnt take over the roads! LOL Good luck and let us know if you get it fixed.

Thanks for the warm welcome and help!!

I am enjoying the board very much.

Just got my 1967 con. 427/400 vette back after a nigtmare 4 years of body of restoration.

Happy to have it home. Need to tweak a few items to get it 100%

Thanks to all.

Pete
