Is there anyway to test the radio in the car, I assume the black is the power lead. The radio in my car was one of the things that was bounced into not working on the way to Carlilse, here's to PA's fine roads, and 21 miles of single lane traffic on the interstate on the shoulder.

yep, of all the various states I've lived in and also driven because of my job, PA must have by far the worst roads i've ever come across!
I live very close to the PA border here in Delaware and I can always tell when I cross over into PA simply by how the road feels instantly - don't need any "Welcome to Pennsylvania" signs to announce when I've entered!
Sorry to hear about your radio.

Nope - in the 3-way radio chassis connector, black is the ground, gray is the dial light, and yellow is the power feed.

Thanks John, I should have asked this but I assume the radio is switched power right? The pluins are tight on the radio and the speaker, I could contort and check thoose with just the radio panel out, so I am afraid that it might be an internal problem, anyone know a good rebuilder.

Yup, the yellow wire is switched ignition power from the radio fuse in the fuse block; check the antenna cable connection at the radio too. Here's a guy that does great work on midyear radios, gets good reports from customers:

Thanks for the link John, If I remember correctly there is a thread going about him on the NCRS forum, and he seems to get good reviews. I don't think it is the antenna, I can here the radio turn on, just no volume, or static.

Tom

Believe the threads about the speaker transformers. My radio was really rough and I ordered a speaker form LI Corvette which was supposed to be the right replacement and still had problems. Eventually I pulled the radiio and sent it back to county corvette's radio shop who returned it with a correct speaker. Problem solved, other than interference form the ignition. But with the pipes, who cares?
