Hi.
I'am from Italy.
I have an 1968 stingray:
1- 194378S409878
2- Big block engine 427
3- 3x2 Holley carburation
4- Automatic transmition
5- International blue
6- White interior leather
7- Engine's number/ suffix : GM 3919850 / T011IIO
8- Trim codes are: Chevrolet F24
TRIM 402 978
DD
I would to now,if possible: the first owner of this car.
Because, i have reasons to believe that this car
was built for: Shah of Persia.
HOW CAN I DO???

Thank you.

The T0111 is the engine assembly date. T= Tonawanda, New York. 0111= Jan 11. (01, first month, January) (11 or 1I= llth day).

The "IO" code is a 68 code for a 427/400 HP Tripower car with automatic trans.

The trim codes 402 978 translate as follows: 402 = Black leather, 978 = International Blue.

The F24 is the body build date code. F is the sixth letter, so this car was built in the sixth month of production. They started in September of 67, so the build date is Feb. 24.

Confused with the GM 3919850 number. Where did this come from? On the stamp pad where you found the T0111IO, you should find another number. Not real familiar with the stamps for 68, but that number/letter sequence should contain the last 5 numbers of you VIN, something like "8S409878" Chuck

3919850 is the casting number from the intake. Do you have the tank sticker (build sheet) from the top of the fuel tank? If it had special build or special shipping instructions (like export preparation), it will be shown on the tank sticker.

...chuck
Thanks.
The number is: 18S409878.
The interior color is: Genuine white leather, and
there are like new.
Somebody of Iranian government tells me that
The King likes ,in all him sport cars with this color.
I had another car (lamborghini Miura Jota). That was
another Shah of persia car,and when i bought this,it was with
white genuine leather too.Now that car is in U.S.A.
For build sheet;tomorrow i'll go to check.
I hope,to find it, in fuel tank(in the top).
I'll tell you about...Thanks for all

Sounds like the original motor to me. The "numbers match". According to the trim code, the car originally came with black leather. White was not an option in 68. Was most likely changed. Chuck

Yes.
I think so.But It was changed
at GM,by Iranian government order.
If i can't find mine build sheet on fuel tank, how can
i do to now more about my vette??

The build sheet/tank sticker is the only available documentation for a '68; if it isn't there, no other records exist. If you can see it or feel it from the gas fill opening after pushing the rubber boot out of the way, don't try to remove it from there - it's glued to the top of the tank. As valuable as the tank sticker is as the car's only documentation, you should drop the fuel tank to see it and photograph it.

This morning,i seen,about my gas tank,at my
corvette.
But i don't find the build sheet,in this place.
I'm disperate,help...............help!!

If its' not on the tank, you MIGHT find one stuck up under the dashboard between the tach and speedo. Might find one under the carpet, etc., but this is doubtful. The sticker will tell you the original options on the car, along with a Zone and Dealer number. Those numbers will tell you the original selling dealer for the car. BUT, not all dealer numbers are known. Even if you find it, there's no guarantee that the dealership is still in business, or if it is, will still have ancient records. It's VERY tough to trace ownership info here in the USA with the new privacy laws. Chuck

If it was an offical Iranian government order to GM wouldn't GM have records? Couldn't you pass the vehicle id number to them?

I think that ,for an important
person same : King of Persia.
The Chevrolet,must have,all documentation
in their archives.
OR NOT?????

And i think that i was directly commissioned
at Chevrolet headquarter.

In my 1968 corvette i have, interiors in white leather.
The question Is:
In the Console Trim i have a metallic plate, with this write: LANDAU (in corsive letters).
What is this "landau"???

1) LANDAU is the seat fabrication???

2) I find an identification number inside the car,
Exactly,in backside interior on passenger side, write ,with an white pencil.that is:
ASS4 #684-2 or A554#684-2
1-18-68
Is this the vendor code???

I can be of no help with the special numbers on the cover, or the plate, for that matter. A Landau is a term here in the USA which describes a fixed roof car with removable panels, like your coupe. I've never seen a factory tag with that written on it. Maybe others can lend some insight. Chuck

I read in internet,that "LANDAU"
was a factory that mades special seats
for GM.
Is it not?
