I just bought a 1972 corvette in my vin # for the engine code it has a [k] does this mean its a lt1, because the car doesn't have a lt1 hood and the valve covers are a stock metal with orange paint other lt1s I have seen have the aluminum covers with raised fins and vette emblem in a circle, did all lt1 come with a lt1 hood ,also this car is completly stock all #s match and has only 21k original miles documented so nothing was switched around. thanks

If the 5th digit in the VIN is a "K", you have the base 200 HP motor. If it is an "L", it is an LT-1. I'm talking about the VIN # on your windshield pillar post.

P.S.- Post the numbers/letters from the engine pad and we can decode them to verify.

Also, welcome! :beer
