I have a 74 Vette 4 sp. I shift most of the time w/o the clutch using the tach however when I get on it and try to shift fast into 2nd its hard to get it in gear. I have to let the rpms come down before I can get into gear. On normal driving its no problem. Appreciate any help with this.....joe

You must be a truck driver. I sometimes forget what i'm driving and shift mine without the clutch. You must push the clutch in when you "get on it" or it will stick in gear. You would have to let off the throttle just to get it out of gear and that would defeat the purpose of a "quick shift".

First, know that shifting a synchromesh trans the way old truckers shift "crash" boxes with is hard on the transmission.

That said, a trans that hard shifting on an upshift is going to have a problem with either the 1-2 synchro assembly or the clutch.
