1974 gas tank ?

I just took the fuel tank out of my 74, somebody just had it out, the vent hose on the left side of the top of the tank comes down. with a fuel filter in line and hooks to the line on the left frame rail. the bottom line from the sender goes to the right fuel line on the rt frame rail. the question is what is the black box mounted to the top of the tank for? it has two nippels on it with a hose attached to the top one going nowear? who the H would put a fuel filter on a vent hose! thanx Roy e mail me at ocoeelin@mindspring.com

Roy: That is a fuel vapor separator. No longer produced by GM. If you still need information on this part--its purpose, etc.-- or the GM part#, contact me. They can be repaired if leaking.

thanx for the info. i just put the tank back in and wont know if it leaks for awhile. its just ready for the body shop. now it is wait till done
