My son has a 74 L48.. I was about to order him new valve cover for a Xmas gift. I am a little confused. All the covers seem to have two gromets one on the pass side one on the drivers. The set he now has on the car has one gromet an the pass side and none on the drivers. Are we missing some thing.. When he purchased the car the seller said these were some racing covers of some sort. What are we missing? Thanks

I sold my L-82 covers several years ago, they were finned with a corvette logo on one side, I think it only had 1 grommet.. do you have a pic?

Both covers originally had a hole - the PCV valve went in a grommet in the front of the driver's side cover (with a hose to the carb base), and the hole at the rear of the passenger side cover had a grommet for a tube and hose that went to the bottom of the air cleaner. Both are essential elements of the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system.

The L48 covers were just plain jane stamped steel.Just put your pvc valve in the back grommet onthe new covers and get some nice chrome breathers for the fronts.

Thanks... It was alot easier than I though.. Thanks again....
