I just got this and wanted no know if it is rare. It does have any option other than power steering that I can tell. No A/C, No power windows nothing special other the a functional cowl induction hood. It's a L-48 car that runs.

It's not particularly rare, and has the dubious distinction of being the lowest hp V-8 corvette produced (except for the 305cid v-8 made for California that year.)

That said, my frst corvette was a '75 that I bought in about 1995 with only 40k miles on it. I absolutely LOVED that car - beautiful styling, and decent handling. It has its share of known liabilities - differential side yolks and leaking brake cylinders to name 2 - but use the knowledgebase here and it'll help you enjoy the car.

Is your 75 a coupe (t-top) or vert? If it is a vert... the price could bring a little more as that was the last year of the vert until the C4's came along in 86 or 87 I believe. Either way, it is a Stingray and a Shark, so enjoy it.

It's not too rare for that era (if it is not a convertible) but then again all 1975 Corvettes are rare now.

Not rare, but cool. 75s aren't going to win any hp wars but they are still great cars. My second vette was a 75. Loved the car.

I would hate for you to have overlooked the 305 California model, now there's a rare one!

I hate to be politically correct, but it was 1986 :cool Is it true that the 1980 vette to be sold in CA also had a 305?

Thanks Paulie, I really couldn't remember. Felt like I was having a blonde moment. Can I blame it on the fact that my AC is not working, it's hitting 93F with over 90% humidity?

It's a T-Top car. I just though it was strange that it's didn't have any options, just plain. They only made about 6500 cars without A/C.

The car isn't rare ... but the manual windows have gotten that way ... just try and find new parts for manual windows. Let me know when you do.
JACK:gap

You are correct Paulie. The 1980 California vette was a 305 with computer controlled carburator. That system was later made standard on the 81 with the 350/195hp. It was the beginning of the end for carburators. Crossfire fuel injection introduced in '82.

H3 :w

My 75 had a funny option (but don't think it's worth any value). The trim tag translates to a basic interior, but with leather seats. Kinda funny that whoever ordered it didn't just go with the delux interior instead.

:cry and I was thinking that I had the only one that ran?
I havent heard that no options could be rare but they might?, the convertable would be more rare and valuable. no air? Hmm now theres parts of the country that really never need a/c. so that dose'nt really factor into car value.
kind of like if the orig. alarm worked or not.(maybe a little but not much addition to value) . you have a good C-3 corvette. have fun . :beer .Just dont morgage the house .:L

If your trim tag interior code ended with a V, the car came with a basic interior with vinyl seats. If you now have leather seats, somebody previous owner switched them. There were no mix-and-match interiors available for C3s.

I don't think that's true.
The trim code is:
body build date (I12) was June 12, 1975
interior code of '192=Bk/Leather
paint code 22L

Custom interior included leather seat trim, wood-grain accents and lower carpet trim on inner door panels, wood-grain accents on console, and special cut-pile carpeting. The car has none of these, so unless someone ripped out the carpeting, wood grain doors and console, it was ordered with the basic interior with black leather.

I think Mikey is suggesting the opposite. That is that someone ripped out only the seats and replaced them with leather. It's pretty common - my old 71 had the basic interior with aftermarket leather seats.

What does your sunvisor material look like?

It doesn't have leather seats in it - someone replaced the leather seats - the trim code says leather.

With all due respect, I've never heard or seen of a car with a mix and match interior, including doing a fair amount of NCRS judging.

Since your trim tag gives no indication of a special order and it makes no sense to have ordered a car with a partially 'downgraded' interior anyway, you'd have a tough time convincing anyone that the remainder of the interior is original.

Have you looked at the rear of a door panel? They're usually date coded.
