1976 Stingray;brakes

I'm completely rebuilding a 1976 corvette stingray,the engine is going to be a 383 stroker,we're going to put in a T.H.C. 400 transmission, a new suspension kit from ecklers, and I was wondering how to get these rear rotors off,I know they're on the lower arm,I was just wondering if I have to take that whole arm off,or not,and if so how?

that's aewsome,I can't really afford a les paul,but I know they're one of the greatest guitars ever made,however if I'm gonna drop more than a 1000,in a guitar,I'd rather get a Paul Reed Smith
 
Well, you don't "have" to remove the trailing arms, to remove the rotors. You can and typically would drill out the rivets, in rotor, (if original) and remove caliper, then out she comes. I would recommend though, only because your spending the time and $$$ to rebuild car, to remove trailing arms and have them rebuilt. In other words, have the rear bearings serviced/replaced and e-brake assemblies redone. I've looked into it myself and found a "Corvette" shop that will service rear t-arms for about $200 each, if you drop them off. It would include regreasing the bearings and removing end -play. Any parts, of course, are extra. Also included is pre-adjustment of e-brake.
 
Not having done myself but reading what others have done, use lots of penetrating oil over a few days first. Even after that, you may still need to use a sawsall to remove the bolts that the trailing arms pivot. As far as the how to step by step, I think if you pull the wheels and look at it for a few you'll see how.
 
I just took a look at them today,there covered with a tar like material,this is gonna be interesting,the cotter pin is stuck.
