I have to install a new pair of side fender louvers on a 1980 Corvette. How do these go on??? would appreciate any help u can give to a novice.

Andy

an '80?
did you go and buy another car Andy? :)

Andy,

I replaced mine on my 1980 a couple years ago. I believe there are 4 small screws on each louver that can be accessed from the outside of the car. Piece of cake..........it will take you 5 minutes to do both.

Thanks Mark....I'll take a close look...Appreciate.

I bought a new pair of chromed side louvers yesterday. They have 3 screws holding them in place..looks easy enough to change and the new chromed look should offset well the black bottom piece on my car. Again, another overpriced add on by the after market folks!!

Andy

Andy,

Let me know how the chrome ones look and if you are happy with them when you get them installed. I was considering these chrome ones also since my 80 is being repainted right now. If I may ask, where did you purchase them?

MARK

Mark..when i put them on, I'll send a pic. I got them at Ecklers....Their most recent catalog has them.Cost is $69.99.

The chrome side louvers arrived last night. WHAT A HUGE difference in the appearance of the car. They took all of 5 minutes to put both sides on. They even come with small allen screws, that were tooo small. I ended up using the existing screws which worked much better. They are well worth the price and are a quick add on. They appear to be made well.

They are plastic, BUT heavy duty plastic and are not brittle by any nature. They slipped right on...

Thanks,I,ve been wanting to get some but for the price I didn't want to be dissappointed.

Thanks Andy....I am glad that you are happy with them; they will be on my next order to Eckler's. I think they will look good on mine also. She was just painted today!!!! Haven't seen her yet though, but I feel real good about it since the guy painting mine has been painting Vettes for 20 years. I will post some pics when she is home and safe!

Mark..good luck..let me know how yours look. Take a peek at my car...Look at the post..."Vertical doors on a 79". I just put those on as well..the side louvers blend in well.

Andy

Mark..before you order from Ecklers...I just ran across this morning.....check out RIKS corvette parts...www.riksvet.com..look for part number CHR163. Same side louvers, chromed for $49.95/pair...saving $20.00 over Ecklers price. Wish I would have seen it before i bought from Ecklers...Good Luck..

Andy

Thanks Andy,

I will check them out. Corvette Central also has them for $49.95. I use them a lot and have never had any problems. They are VERY fast with shipping and since they are only one state away in Michigan, if I place my order before 3 PM I will have my parts the next day with standard shipping.
