I have a 80 vet and the low side of the A/C go's over 120 PSI !! (which should be around 30?) and the high side runs 150 +-. It blows cold air and the A/C compressor is working and don't shut off until you turn it off. Have any idea's?

Thanks

Mike

The orifice tube has a hole in it or there's a restriction somewhere in the system that should not be. I'd bet the dryer/accumulator is coming apart.. Feel the temperature from the top of it to the bottom- there will be a temp difference between ends. If the dryer is the same, start looking at lines- same thing- one spot will be really hot, and it'll be cold right next to it.

And you are correct- low side should be 25-30 with the high around 250-300. Those pressures depend on outside air temp so that is just a guideline.

I will check that out thanks.
Mike

Clogged oriface filter. They should be replaced everytime the system is recharged. Refrigerant with stop-leak in it is death to oriface filters.
