I just bought a 1981 Corvette automatic. When you put it into gear the Differential feels like it is rotating down in the front and the rear end. The car rear end kind of squats down.

Is it hard to change the bushings to keep it from doing this? My 75" Vet doesn't do this. Can I do it myself? I am a decent backyard mechanic but have never had this problem in my cars before.

Can I put my jack under the differential and jack the back end up at the same time, put jack stands under the axle on each end by the wheels to change the bushings? Any input on this will be appreciated.

The bushings have no effect one way or the other on rear end 'squat'. It's primarily an effect of rear spring rating and engine idle speed. Your spring might be very soft and your idle too high, or both.
