Hello all of you, Can someone tell me what is the stock ratio of differential on 1981 C3s? I saw on this site in specs where it says 3.07. The only ratio I saw was 2.72 for manual and 2.87 for automatic in NCRS Corvette guide. Assuming it is 2.72 for manual, what would be the RPM at 60 MPH ?
Thanks.:cool :cool

with my 2.72 ratio I barely turn 2000 rpm at 60. I'd probably be in third gear doing 60.

vetter,

I just checked the model center for the 1981 rear end ratio.. and here is what is there Axle Ratio 2.87:1 (2.72:1 in CA) 2.72:1 (2.88:1 - Low) the first set of numbers being an automatic. I also did a quick search of the L81 Vette Registry and it shows the same numbers... whew ya had me worried there for a minute now I'm :confused please try to find where you saw it printed differently so we can make the correction if is incorrect..

I turn around 1800 to 1900 rpm in my 1981 MM4 at around 60 mph :)

vetter,

How rude of me... I just noticed this is your first post here.. :duh

Welcome aboard! Lot's of great folks here. I see from your post you have done a little scouting around the ole CAC site ;) You'll find everyone here most helpful and a great source of technical information and fun to talk with ;)

Settle in and enjoy the :Steer
