Help! 1981 Door Lock Anti-Theft Switch

Hi all.....we are taking the car apart to get it ready for it's new paint job. Looks like someone previously did a botch repair job and bonded the sweitch in place and we may need to cut the wire for now....now for my question - Will this affect starting the car? Is the alarm tied into starting the car? Thanks, Ray

my guess would be yes...however you should be
able to disable the alarm by pulling the relay under the ashtray....

I think if you pull the relay it won't start at all. I replaced my relay because the car wouldn't always start. I would turn the key and no click or anything. The purple wire going to the starter goes through the security relay. Before I changed the relay to make it start I would use a paperclip to jump from black wire to the purple wire in the terminal connector.
