Question: 1981 Vette Noise!

I was cruizin' down the freeway last night at about 65 mph, when I heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the car. This is the second time this has happened. Just "Bam" and that was it. Didn't run over anything and no apparent change in handling. Any ideas?

Have you put the rearend in the air yet to look for anything obvious like damage or missing bolts, etc.?

Check the four spring mounting bolts where it attaches to the diff. housing.

IF you can get that vette up on a lift,look at ALL the bolts under there and make sure none of them are breaking or that the heads have popped off!!!!
check the drive and half shafts as well as all mounting bolts under there!!!!
