Hi, need help on removing the dash cluster on a 85 c4 to replace the odometer, started to take it out and got close in doing so but gets stuck. I heard somewhere if you loosen the steering column a little bit and drop it this makes it easier to get it out. The other thing is I stared to unhook the dash cluster plug that has 2 small plastic lock clips 1 on both sides and already lost one somewhere in the dash. I am afraid if I take this plug harness off that from the wires being so tight that the plug is going to fall back in the dash somewhere and I wont be able to retrieve it. There is not very much room to work with and a very tight spot. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks. Bill

Obviously the cluster has to come out...

1. remove dash pad. (top) has retaining screws along rear edge and it snaps in place. After all screws are out, pull straight back with a side to side motion as you pull. 2 Long screws in the defroster vent too. Tilt wheel down to lowest position and work the dash pad off toward the passenger side.
2. remove dash bezels, Tilt wheel lever has to go. Bezels for dash and center display. (headlite knob)
3. locate digital cluster screws along bottom around steering collumn, and along top edge, and lift cluster partially up and outward. Use tool to push lock tab on harness clamp, seperate, do the same for smaller harness clamp (2).

Lift out cluster and lay flat on a soft towel screens down.
Remove backside grill panel. Note the plug on OD drive motor to circuit board. 2 screws to remove motor assy, 2 more screws to pull motor from mount assy.

new motors are available on Flea-Bay for $35
