1985 distrib. not sure what to do?

I was trying to install an upgraded distributor unit in my 1985 looked around and made many calls, eventually got to Performance distributors, they indicated that they didn't make a unit for an 85 vette, I thought that was a bit odd. Then I came here and have been told that others use a unit from that company The DUI. I went to the site and am not sure if I am looking at units that will work the 12600 or the 12611. Is anyone using these currently and did they have all the proper connections to the wiring harness? Thanks Much

What do you wish to accomplish with this outlay of $300+? The HEI is perfectly fine for nearly any street driven car. Hell, you can buy a new replacement for $120. It'll spark to 7000rpm, stock, and can be modded to turn 10k. Blown motors may need a different setup.

Thanks much I am going to keep the stock unit in place. What about that dist cap that routes the wires 4 to each side of the car in order in lieu of the usual firing order?

The firing order won't change, but wire routing might. I've not seen the cap you speak of so cannot comment. I take it this is apperance thing?
